It was like the whole world stood still as we gazed at each other in awe. My breath was caught in my throat and a foreboding feeling settled in my stomach. While, I was very glad that I was blessed with a mate, especially a mate like him, something was very wrong. We weren't from the same pack. Things like this just didn't happen. The Moon Goddess made it as such. My eyebrows furrowed. My mate took notice of my sudden attitude change and his features hardened as well. For the first time in a few minutes, I realized that the nurse was still standing behind my mate.

"Alpha, that's impossible." The nurse likely had been trying to speak to us for the past few minutes, but until neither of acknowledge her presence or even heard her speak.

"Enough. This wolf is my mate. Bring me Grayson and Oliver. Now." My mate was extremely curt with the nurse, but his eyes never strayed from my figure in the bed. I'm sure I was a sight to behold. I haven't showered in over a week and the closest thing my hair has seen to a brush was when I had to rip fallen twigs out of my hair. Don't even get me started on my teeth or the smell of my breath. I was partially afraid to speak in fear that he'd be able to smell my rotten breath from the other side of the room.

The nurse scurried away after muttering a short, "yes, alpha." I knew her name was Maya, but the way she looked at my mate suddenly made me bitter. I refused to acknowledge her until she treated me with more respect. After the nurse vacated the doorway of the room, my mate and I continued to stare at each other both in wonder and apprehension. I already felt so drawn to him, but my mind was reminding me that this wasn't normal. It took a few minutes for my mate to enter the room and shut the door behind him. Neither of us seemed to know what to say.

"How... how is this possible?" I made an effort to keep my voice low and barely opened my mouth. I was afraid if I spoke normally, he'd smell my rancid breath. My mate made a sound that oddly resembled a purr when he heard my voice. The sound brought a small smile to my face.

"The Moon Goddess works in mysterious ways." My mate mumbled. I wondered if he really was going to let this go or if he was already planning to reach out and figure what went wrong... or in this case, what went right, because damn was my mate one hot piece of man.

"What's your name?" Again, my voice was low and my mouth partially closed.

"Ky... Ky Knight." I was literal melted butter at his name. Everything about him was perfection. Well, everything a girl could know after a short conversation. However, Ky was my mate. He was made for me, so I doubt he'd disappoint.

"I'm Amelia Collins." I flashed him a bright smile before abruptly closing my mouth. Why did I have to be so stupid to leave Tsuki without any sort of hygienic product? I wanted to openly facepalm, but Ky would probably wonder if I needed psychiatric help as well.

"You're a rogue. What were you doing outside my territory?" Ky tilted his head in fascination. I wondered if he was going to reprimand me if I told him about Eli. However, I didn't want to lose Ky. Not when I just found him. So, I opted to focus on my anger rather than my guilt.

"You had me kidnapped. I wasn't on your territory and you had me forcibly removed from my home." I was seething. Yes, in the end I met my mate, but they had no right to violate me in such way. I had done nothing wrong. The face of the man in the clearing suddenly flashed in my thoughts, but I quickly pushed it away. My actions then were justified.

"You're a rogue. You'd been squatting by my territory line for days. The orders were not to take you, but would you rather they had let you die?" He took on the same tone with me as I had with him. I bristled as my anger grew.

"You had no right! Whether I live or die is my choice. You don't get to rip that choice away from me." I watched as Ky's eyes immediately darkened. I could tell his wolf was angered by my words and suddenly my face paled. If I had the choice to die or meet my mate, I would have chosen to go with the men. I was saying things out of anger and fear of what the real answer to his question would bring.

"You're my mate. Don't you dare speak as if you'd rather be dead than saved and in my territory." Ky growled causing me to flinch back. His face softened an inch.

"I would have chosen to live." I mumbled under my breath hoping he didn't hear me. I didn't want to argue, but I also didn't want the truth to be revealed. I knew deep down, I couldn't lie to Ky. He deserved the truth even if I was terrified to force those little words out of my mouth. Sadly, Ky's wolf hearing allowed him to pick up on my words. His face softened even more.

"Amelia," Ky approached the bed where I was laying and caressed my face. Tingles spread throughout my entire body. "What happened to you?"

At his soft words, I burst into tears. All of my fears came flooding back full force. I could still be mateless. Ky could reject me for loving another man. I know what I felt for Eli pales in comparison to what I feel for Ky, but I was still a traitor. I kissed someone other than my mate.

"I'm so sorry." I sobbed into my hands. Thankfully, Ky wasn't too startled by my reaction and rubbed my back affectionately. The tingles and tears lulled my mind into a deep haze until I finally passed out from exhaustion.

Ky would get his answers, but he wouldn't get them today.
