Kate's pov

-

Dear God, Mother Nature, Celine Dion, whoever you may be, please get me through this day.

"Good Morning, are you here for auditions?" the guard at the gate asked

"Um yeah, alot of people here seen to be" I mumbled

"Back of the line please" he said

I could feel a few eyes on the back of my head, I ever heard their laughter.

"Who does she think she is" Someone chuckled

"She's pretty, I'll give her that"

"Pretty and talent doesn't mix"

"She looks like her parents are rich"

I never understood why people felt the need to gossip, it never benefited anyone to talk bad about another, it just makes people see you differently if you're going to stain someone's name or judge another person so easily

Luckily my mother didn't raise me to be like that, sure I wasn't that strong when it came to taking criticism but I was always told never to judge someone so easily, I might not know the names of the gossipers but it's not like I'm going to hate them because they talk.

Everyone wants a shot, I get it. The best way they think to bring someone down and destroy their confidence is by talking shit about them.

I just wished the world was different.

"Oh Um I was asked to personally audition" I said to the guard, he raised his brow and the chatters of everyone else went silent

"You sure about that?" the guard asked

"Yes... May Hills asked me to come in" I said

"You hear that!?" someone gasped

"She's lying"

"As if May would ever take a charity case like her. Ptff"

Alright. That's it. The anger from my eyes showed the annoyance within, the girl who was taught to love and keep cool was still hidden but I wasn't going to stand there and let them continue without them knowing I have ears.

"Do you have a problem with me?" I asked

No one seemed to speak up, their heads hung low as they held their imaginary tail between their legs, avoiding my eyes and clearly wasn't expecting me to speak up.

I might look shy but that doesn't mean I'm going to allow you to run over me.

"And why should I believe that May Hills asked you to be here?" The guard asked

"I... Because she gave me a card"

"There's no way" someone whispered, I almost rolled my eyes

"Let me see it" he said

I quickly pulled the card from my back pocket and slowly placed it into his hands, making sure everyone around me had the chance to see it.

What? Don't call me petty

The guard furrowed his brows and examined the card around every inch, clearly confused as to how I even came across such a card. I couldn't blame him though, guess he was just doing his job

His eyes then glanced into mine, almost as if he was pressuring out any lie that was within. I just gave him a small smile and waited

"Buzz her through" he said into a mic
