Taking Back What Was Ours

Start from the beginning

"Aye!" everyone shouted.

"Masks on."

Everyone placed their oxygen masks on their face after final checks of their gear.

"Ten minutes until we reach the DZ," the pilot informed, "Lowering the ramp."

Everyone stood in the middle of the plane anticipating for the green light to drop. The whirring of the machinery lowering the ramp filling my ears.

"We got something coming in from below us," the pilot said over the speaker system.

"Shit! Evade! Evade! Missile inbound!" the speaker cried.

The plane banked hard to the left nearly wiping everyone off their feet.

"Brace!" Lillith shouted.

An explosion violently shook the plane.

"We lost the right wing!" the pilot shouted.

"We need to bail out now!" I shouted.

"We're not even over the drop zone!" A teammate protested.

"We all die, we failed the mission before we even start it. Bail out that is an order!" Lillith commanded.

The plane was slowly turning upside down as we all jumped out the back of the plane.

"Altitude!" someone shouted over the comms.

I looked at the dial on my left wrist.

"20,000!"

The air rushed over my ears, muffling any sort of noise lower than a shout.

"15,000!"

"Watch your oxygen, we don't want you to pass out and die from your fall!"

I could see light blue tracers coming from the city.  They seemed to fly faster than any of the orange tracers the army was using at the time.

"10,000!"

"There's the park!"

I glanced to my right to find Potter Fields with something on top of it. Muzzle flashes appeared every so often from one end of the shape.

"Bollocks, their using it as an artillery site!"

"5,000!"

"What's the backup LZ!"

"Land on Tower Bridge! Pull your chutes!"

I aimed towards the bridge and pulled the ripcord to my parachute. The fabric unraveled itself and before my head jerked forward. I gazed upwards and sighed in relief as my parachute floated above me.

"Are we all good?" Lillith asked.

"I'm good," I stated.

I touched down on the road which was filled with abandoned vehicles.

"Link up at the collapsed red bus," Lillith ordered.

I left the parachute on the street and drew my P226 from its holster. Weaving through the cars, I made my way to the collapsed bus.

"Blue?" someone whispered.

"Moon," I muttered.

"Comin' behind you."

I reached the bus and saw three of us here.

"Where's everyone?" I asked.

"We're spread out," Lillith informed, "but that doesn't matter, the mission comes first."

"Aye, moving to the top of Tower Bridge."
