Mingi exited his chat with Leedo and was immediately met with his recent texts; one of which was Hongjoong. Not that he could text the number anymore.

Mingi had considered changing his number, making a second Instagram account and maybe even showing up at Hongjoong's door. However, he couldn't bring himself to actually do any of that because, as he reminded himself for the hundredth time that day, Hongjoong was better off without him. It didn't matter how much Mingi's heart hurt as long as the boy he had come to love was happy. Hongjoong deserved to be happy and maybe, Mingi deserved the pain for ever believing they could work.

The music playing from the Bluetooth speaker was loud enough to drown out the sound of the shower and momentarily allow Mingi's thoughts to stop racing. That was perhaps why Mingi fully believed he was dreaming when the Bluetooth speaker announced 'incoming call from Hongjoong red heart emoticon.'

Maybe Mingi was finally going deaf from listening to music at dangerously high volumes. Maybe he had actually managed to drown himself, thereafter landing in hell, where Satan was now torturing him with the thought of Hongjoong.

Trying to ignore the momentary pain as his forehead hit the shower nozzle, Mingi scrambled to reach his phone just in case he hadn't misheard. With soap suds still clinging to his dark hair, Mingi managed to grab his phone off the sink and pause the music.

One missed call

Mingi's heart somehow simultaneously dropped and did a cartwheel. Why was Hongjoong calling him? Had he changed his mind? Was he hurt or in danger? Why would he call Mingi of all people if he needed help?

Mingi cursed as he tried to call back as quickly as he could but his shaking fingers and the water droplets dripping from his hair onto the screen made it very difficult to work his phone. Before he managed to make the phone call, Hongjoong had already called him again.

Mingi held his breath as he hit answer.

'Hello? Hongjoong?'
