Hongjoong awoke to the sound of birds outside his window. He huffed in annoyance and rubbed the back of his neck. History textbooks weren't the most comfortable pillows in the world. It also wasn't the easiest to sleep knowing he had written barely a hundred out of the thousand words he had been tasked with writing, before his brain had practically shut down.
Hongjoong wasn't a bad student and he definitely wasn't irresponsible but he did often overestimate the work he could realistically do within a certain amount of time. Luckily, Hongjoong was a gifted problem-solver. That was why he was going to be turning in this essay a day late and skipping class to avoid getting his grade marked down. By some miracle, it was Hongjoong's only class of the day so he had the entirety of the day to sleep and procrastinate some more.
Lazily, Hongjoong gathered his books and placed them on the floor next to his bed, before pulling the blanket over himself. He grabbed his phone to send his friends a quick text before going back to sleep.
Joong Can one of u please tell Mr Kim that I'm gravely ill and will turn in my assignment tomorrow 🥺

Hongjoong's heart threatened to jump out of his chest. This was not happening. He couldn't allow this to happen. Not now. Not while his friends were unavailable and not a mere twenty minutes from now. He had to say no. As much as Hongjoong wanted to see Mingi and hug him and stare at his gorgeous face in person, he had to say no. After all, this was a very reckless thing to do and Hongjoong wasn't a reckless person.
There was something about Mingi that made Hongjoong want to do reckless things.
