"So what are we gonna do?" I asked as I sat back with my arms crossed. Graysons placed his hand on top of my leg and gave it a slight squeeze.
"We're gonna let the police deal with it, what other choice do we have?" Keeth responded. I bit the inside of cheek, he was right. We weren't equipped to go out and try hunting down some murderer
"Are you sleeping at home tonight?" I asked.
He shook his head and stood up
"No, I think I'll stay at Aidens for now"
"What about you?" he asked
"I've been staying at Graysons since dad went off the hook"
He nodded and pulled me into a hug. Unusual for Keeth- but
"Please be safe"
I hugged him tighter and promised I would be okay.
"Any plans for tomorrow?" Grayson asked me as we pulled up to his drive way
"Nothing much, just gonna do some work at the aquarium" I looked down and then back up to him
"How's school going?"
"It's okay...but it would be a lot better if you were there"
I smiled as we got out of the car, there was no way I could go back there right now.
"Here, pick a movie and I'll get some popcorn" he tossed me the control and I plopped down on the couch.
I scrolled through a ton and finally settled on one, Grayson came over with a fuzzy throw blanket and a big bowl of popcorn.
As the next 30-35 minutes passed we both were dozing off and falling asleep. Graysons arms were around me while my head was on his chest.
The sun flooded through the curtains while my obnoxious phone alarm went off.
"Ugh" I rubbed my forehead and sat up. Grayson groaned behind me and turned on his side.
"I have to get going" I whispered
"Let me drive you" he said as he sat up
"No it's okay to back to sleep" I responded
"I don't mind" he stood up and walked in the kitchen, grabbing his car keys and tilting his head, waiting for me.
"Ready?" He asked as I nodded.
Once I was dropped off at the aquarium people flooded the exhibits. A lot of them coming up to me, asking about the dolphins or some of the sea otters.
"You work here right!" A group of girls we're walking with me
"Kinda-"
"Can we pleaseee have a backstage pass to meet milly!" The little girls screeched
"Uh"
"Please! She's the most popular dolphin here and we really look up to her!"
"Girls I can't-" I kept getting caught off, and their screaming only got louder as they talked over the rest of the people
"We always see you swimming with her!" Another one added.
"I'm sorry girls but Loni can't let that happen" Marvin said as he walked up next to me.
"But-"
"Our boss wouldn't allow that. I'm sorry" I said. All four of the girls frowned and walked away, mumbling under their breaths
"Getting attacked already?" Marvin asked as we continued to walk up to my office
"I guess, I don't even know how they recognize me"
"Beats me, but speaking of Milly would you like to do the honors and perform the show with her?"
"Sure why not" I smiled and grabbed my wet suit and started putting it on.
"Meet me out there in five"
After I tied my hair up and got all dressed I walked out of my office and over to the performance tank. Milly was doing a lot better since I last seen her. and if she wanted to she could get back to doing live shows.
With our rehab dolphins, the "shows" are just telling people about them and swimming around with them. Basically a little Q&A.
"Hey everyone" Marvin said. everyone cheered as I waved
"Today me and my co-worker Loni are here to show off one the most amazing dolphin named Milly."
Milly's eyes lit up as I climbed down the ladder and kneeled on the resting platform.
"Milly is one of our youngest dolphins at the aquarium..." and so fourth. Marvin continued to explain her past as she swam around.
A hour passed and I was still kneeling in Milly's tank, just spending time with her. I felt a huge splash of water hit my back as someone laughed extremely loud
"Hey!" Melody said
I furrowed my eye brows and quickly turned around
"Melody?" Milly made a soft clicking noise
"That's me!" She shouted and pulled me into a hug.
"Oh my god when we're you released? How are feeling? Should you even be in the water right now?" I was so worried
"Loni calm down, I was released earlier this morning and I feel fine! But I came here for two reasons" she crouched down in the water and reached out to pet Milly
"One, to see her again. It's been weeks since Ive pet her" Melody said. Milly inched closer to her and smiled ear to ear, clicking once again.
"And two, because your birthday is right around the corner!" She stood up again and grabbed my hands
"Melody I have so much more to worry about at the moment" I tilted my head and sighed
"You think I care? My best friend is turning Eighteen this year and there's NO way I'm not gonna let you celebrate"
"I'm here!" Annie ran over and leaned against the railing
"We've got a coffee date and a lot of planning to do. So get out of your wetsuit and meet us in the car. No if, ands, or buts!" Melody smiled and pulled me with her. Fine, maybe one full day to myself would be nice...I don't know.
"So, who are we inviting?" Melody asked as she grabbed her notepad
"Grayson, Keeth, Aiden-"
"Aiden?" I cut Annie off
"Yeah why not? Did something happen between you guys?" Annie asked
"No, not really, just...go ahead and invite him" See, I told you no one knows about the thing me and him had.
"Reina, me, melody and of course you?" Annie asked. Reina was one of our good friends, although we haven't hung out in a while.
"Yeah that sounds good" I said
"So you and Grayson? I've heard you guys have been hanging out a lot?" Melody asked. My face got bright red as I gulped and looked down
"Calm down, me and him aren't meant to be, I don't mind if you guys get together" Oh, well that helped.
"And I was thinking...Could we have the get together on your parents boat?"
