CHAPTER 1.2

SYNCHRONY

Jazzred, who goes by Azy—and I shared a lifelong friendship that was nothing short of extraordinary. From the very moment we crossed paths in our childhood, it became evident that our connection was destined to be something truly unique. Our bond went beyond the ordinary; it was as if the threads of fate had woven our lives together since the day we were born.

Habang lumalaki kaming dalawa na palaging magkasama, our friendship flourished, undeniably deepening with each passing year. We faced life's challenges and celebrated its joys side by side, forging an unbreakable connection. Magbago man ang mundo, sure na sure ako, that our friendship remained a constant source of support and inspiration.

In our youth, we shared dreams and aspirations, daring to challenge the limits of our potential. Together, we explored the uncharted territories of our imaginations, painting the canvas of our lives with vibrant strokes of laughter and shared experiences.

Through the highs and lows of life, our friendship was an anchor, offering solace in times of sorrow and doubling the joy in times of triumph. It was in Azy's unwavering presence that I found my greatest confidant, a person who knew me inside out, and someone with whom I could be my truest self.

Our journey was a tapestry of moments, stitched together by shared secrets, whispered promises, and endless conversations. Azy's quirks became my familiarity, and my idiosyncrasies were just as much a part of him. It was a connection that transcended mere friendship, evolving into a profound bond of 'brotherhood'.

Habang tumatagal talaga yung friendship namin, it only grew richer. The chapters of our lives were written in harmony, and our friendship became the golden thread weaving through them all. Our adventures together continued, and the world could not help but be touched by the profound connection we shared. Sheesh, talaga naman!

"Kumusta naman, marami kayong ginagawa?" he inquired, taking a brief respite from devouring his Siopao, a colossal steamed bun he was still working on eating, obviously. Napakabagal kumain parang hindi nag-grade two! Ayy, maling meme ata!

As we sat in a convenience store, the chilly September air swirled around us, adding a touch of crispness to the atmosphere. Crispiness?! I savored a scoop of my favourite strawberry ice cream, the cold not bothering me in the slightest. It was the kind of weather that made such treats more enjoyable. Hindi naman kasi ako lamigin hindi gaya nitong katapat ko rito, diyos ko ha, mamaya mangingisay na 'to! Nakakaloka!

After wiping my mouth with a tissue, I replied, "Marami! Kaya nga late na ako nakakauwi. Mabuti nga medyo maaga ngayon, sakto pa kasi gig day natin! Baka isumpa ko na lang prof. ko kapag gano'n! Gago ba siya? Ay char lang!"

Azy's eyes lit up with surprise and delight upon hearing my playful response, and I couldn't help but be captivated by the sheer effulgence that radiated from his almost phoenix leaf-shaped obsidian eyes. It was as if his eyes were the windows to his soul, and in that moment, they revealed a deep well of happiness that was contagious.

The flicker of mischief in his eyes, the way they crinkled at the corners as he broke into a wide smile, was a sight to behold. It was a sight I had seen countless times, yet it never failed to warm my heart. In that simple exchange, our connection felt electric, like a spark that had ignited a thousand times before but never lost its potency.

Ang babaw naman ng kaligayahan nito! Pasayahin kita diyan e! Hui!

But, I couldn't deny that he was genuinely adorable. Making him laugh was a personal joy; seeing his eyes sparkle when he smiled or laughed was a treasure.
