Chapter 16

Sehun's POV

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry for being stupid and for not being the best boyfriend.

But Luhan has to realize that I had my own problems to take care of.

Luhan's face that cringed when I stood up and screamed.

The image of his doe eyes hurt made my chest tighten.

If Lay was hurting Luhan, then I needed to take care of him.

Kai's POV

The smaller male stumbled behind me and I grinned.

I found it absolutely adorable.

The way his hair bobbed with every step he took and his eyes cautiously scanning our surroundings.

I took his hand in mine and his eyes multiplied in size.

"W what are you doing?" He asked, deep and smooth voice.

Sounded like chocolate.

"I want chocolate," I responded.

"Well there's a candy shop right around the cor-"

I pressed my lips to his and sucked on his velvet lips.

Tasted so sweet.

And definitely, a lot better than chocolate.

He reacted and pulled me until I was at his height.

He twisted in my mouth and pulled away.

"You owe me chocolate now," he grinned.

"Of course," I winked.

He just rolled his eyes and pulled me towards the candy shop.

I could tell there was a secret grin behind that.

Suho's POV

After seeing Lay react to the sight of Luhan and Sehun, I felt as if someone punched me in the gut.

It sucks when the only thing you want can never be yours.

It's absolutely heart wrenching when you know there's nothing you can do.

I sighed as I walked down the deserted street.

I kept walking until I saw Sehun from a distance.

"Sehun-ah," I called.

"Hyung," Sehun replied and ran up to me.

"You look distressed," Sehun's silent eyes were mixed with emotions.

"Yeah,"

"I can listen and try to help," I offered.

Sehun thought about it for a good minute.

"Ok, there's no one else I can turn to," he sighed.

I waited for him to start.

"Lay and Luhan have been friends since childhood, but Lay is in love with Luhan. Luhan feels guilty for hurting him and I'm just completely lost at what to do," his eyes glistened and I pulled him into a hug.

As I hugged him I made eye contact with Lay.

Who clearly recognized the person I was hugging as Sehun.

"Lay!" I called after him but he already ran away.

"What was that?" Sehun pulled out of the hug very confused.

"Lay saw us hugging...." I replied.

"Whatever," Sehun just shrugged and looked me in the eye waiting for my response.

"I have a plan,"

Sehun's eyes light up and he stared at me intensely.

"You get Luhan to reject Lay completely and I'll try to comfort him, that way he'll be in need of comfort. Or you can get Luhan to hate him."

"Luhan could never hate anyone." Sehun said and that was true.

"But he'll hate whoever hurts you," I replied.

"So what are you thinking?" Sehun looked me dead in the eye.

"We make it so that Lay and Luhan can never look at eachother again."

Lay's POV

Sehun's chilling glare made me realize where I stood.

I wasn't the one that could make Luhan happy, and I had to accept that.

It's not me the person that gets to hold him.

It's not me who gets to be with him forever because these necklaces were supposed to save us from heartbreak.

But then why is my heart breaking into tiny, tiny pieces?

Why can I hear my heart crack every time Luhan smiles at Sehun?

I haven't worn my necklace since 5th grade because I wanted to go against fate.

The butterflies in my stomach every time Luhan laughed were too real to be denied.

I went home solemnly after seeing Sehun hug Suho.

I fumbled through my closet in search of the compass to my soul mate.

Seeing the unicorn head shaped pendant I sucked in a cold breathe.

The room was so silent, my heart beat could be hear in the back of my head.

I reached out towards the pendant and picked it up.

The pendant shone in the light and I put it on.

Memories flooded out and into the pendant, my heartbreaks, my hopes for a future with Luhan and all thoughts of trying to overcome destiny left me.

I felt numb but strangely content.

Now, I wasn't a corpse feeding off false hope and memories.

I was finally just Lay.
