#13 "Christian the Christian"

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new
(2 Corinthians 5:17)

Police said a short prayer after I had confessed that I believed that God had forgiven me through Jesus Christ. He prayed that the God that said He had forgiven me accept me into His everlasting kingdom of eternal life. He asked God's precious holy Spirit to fall on me and take control of my life.

He let me stay in his house until I got stronger. During that time, he taught me very important things about the kingdom of Heaven and I learnt more about that man of Galilee.

One day, we were watching the news. Suddenly, a breaking news came that a student of Edo State University, Ekpoma had been found with a broken head and had been murdered a few months ago. My blood ran cold as ice. For a moment, I couldn't breathe. It had to be Diana, I thought within me.

"Wow! The person that killed the girl tried o!" Police mused then turned to look at me, "Two months now" he said, staring deep into my eyes.

I found it hard to swallow. I found it hard to comment. I found it hard to keep my eyes on him. He probably knew.

"What's the matter, Christian?"

With manly tears in my eyes, I mumbled to him that he shouldn't worry and rose on my feet.

I was running away.

Since I had been wearing Police's clothes, I just had to wash my clothes and let them dry so by the time it was evening, I would leave the house.But Police caught me one more time.

"I didn't know it was you until the Holy Spirit revealed it to me after the news" he told me.

I didn't say anything. What was there to say?

"Do you know that you have been bought?" he asked.

"By whom?"

"Jesus. You were the devil's slave, made to sin, suffer guilt, shame and sicknesses. But Jesus bought you to serve righteousness. Do you know what this means?"

I shook my head.

"It means you're a new creature. You are no longer Christian the thief or the cultist. You are Christian the Christian. You are born again. As God forgives, God forgets. He deliberately chose to forget your wrong doings after you confessed that you believe He has forgiven you. Whether they track you or not, there is still no condemnation to those in Christ"

He was smaller than I am but in my tears of new joy, I embraced him. This God had done too much. He sent His Son to suffer being man and die a cursed death so He could forgive us before we asked and then forget our sins when we accept and believe His Son, who showed.

His Father had just told him one day that He would die for the unfaithful world He who was faithful had created and also detailed how the death would be in Prophet Isaiah's book chapter fifty three verse five. The Son of Heaven became the man of Galilee who gave His life for us.

Police hugged me tightly too and began to speak in tongues. When I opened my mouth, I too began to speak in tongues. The more I spoke, the more confident I felt of God's presence around me.

I still had to leave Police. I went home to my parents. I apologized to them for lying, stealing and disobeying. I also gave testimony in my church. I told them I was a liar, was a cultist, was a fornicator, was a killer but now I am a new creature.

I am born again. I am forgiven. I have seen Jesus face to face. I am a royal priesthood, a holy nation and a peculiar people, translated out of darkness into light. No more nightmares! No more depression! No more slavery!

I am new!

Satan's weapon to make grace seem powerless is guilt and fear...think about it
