Volume 1 Chapter 2: The Shining Beacon

Start from the beginning

"But wouldn't it weigh the same?" I ask, knowing the law of physics.

"Yeah, it does."

"Well, I'm kind of a dork when it comes to weapons. I guess I did go a little overboard designing it."

"Wait. You made that?"

"Of course! All students at Signal forge their own weapons. Didn't you make yours?"

"It's a hand-me-down. My great-great-grandfather used it to fight in the war."

"Sounds more like a family heirloom to me!"

"Well, I like it! Not many people have an appreciation for the classics these days." I state, loving the simplicity of the older weapons.

"Yeah. The classics."

"So why'd you help us out back there, in the courtyard?"

"Eh, why not? My mom always says, "Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet.""

"You have a good mother."

"Hmmm... Hey, where are we going?" Ruby asked, as we haven't really gotten to any place yet.

"Oh, I dunno, I was following you."

"And I was following Ruby."

"You think there might be a directory? Maybe a food court? Some sort of recognizable landmark?"

He was met with silence.

"Is uh... Is that a "no"?"

"That's a no."

[Later]

"Sorry Ruby, I gotta go here, I have to meet Ozpin after this. I'll see you later though!"

"Alrighty, have fun!"

"Oh, I'm sure I will. And I'll come back to have fun with my little plaything~" Did I say that out loud? I hope not. I really need to get myself under control.

Ruby's P.O.V.

Hmm... I wonder what she whispered?

"Ruby! Over here! I saved you and Y/N a spot!"

I went over to Yang, WHO DITCHED US!

"Hey, where's your Y/N?"

"She has to go to Professor Ozpin's office right after this. But we'll see her later though!"

"Oh. How's your first day going, little sister?"

"You mean since you ditched us and we exploded?!"

"Yikes. Meltdown already?"

"No, I literally exploded a hole in front of the school. There was a fire... and I think some ice."

"Are you being sarcastic?"

"*scoff* Ugh, I wish! I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage! And then she yelled at us! And then I sneezed. And then I exploded! And then she yelled again! And we felt really, really bad! And I just wanted her to stop yelling at us!"

"You!" I jumped into Yang's arms, startled.

"Oh God, it's happening again!"

"You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!"

"Oh my god, you really exploded."

"It was an accident! It was an accident!" She held up a piece of paper. "What's this?"

"The Schnee Dust Company is not responsible for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company product.
