Today is the day of giving thanks and roasting turkeys. Yup, you guessed it. Today's Thanksgiving. But of course, even though it's one of the most important holidays of the year, I still have work! Starbucks is the worst for giving shifts on holidays. Whatever, I'm not complaining too much. I only work till about one, so after that Kiera and I are planning on going to the local thanksgiving parade.
The thanksgiving parade is kind of a tradition for Kiera and I. We've been going to it every year since grade 9, and every year we watch it at our spot while eating candy apples and drinking caramel hot chocolate from one of the local shops.
I glanced up at the clock in my room and saw that it read 8:15. I grabbed my coat and hurried out the door to my car, not wanting to be late for my shift at 8:30.
I pulled up at Starbucks with only a minute to spare. I signed myself in and got ready for another normal day of selling over-priced coffee.

My shift was finally over and I made the decision to head straight to Kiera's after I went home and changed. I hadn't seen her since the end of school and I was dying to see her. I rushed home and quickly changed into some warmer clothes, then I headed straight back out to my car.
I'm surprised I didn't get a ticket for how fast I was going. I'm pretty sure I raced past a stop sign, but I could honestly care less. All I could think of was seeing Kiera.
Ding dong
I pressed the doorbell on Kiera's house and waited for someone to answer. Kiera's mom answered the door, looking happy to see me.
"Tanner! It's been too long!" Exclaimed Kiera's mom, embracing me in a hug.
"It really has been Mrs. Sailer." I nodded in agreement.
"Now Tanner, what have I said about calling me Mrs. Sailer? You can call me Elizabeth! Oh! Let me go get Kiera for you!" She explained, heading up the stairs.
No longer than two minutes, Mrs. Sailer came down the stairs with Kiera trailing behind her. I immediately started smiling, as did she. When she got to the bottom of the stairs, she pulled me into a hug.
"I missed you." She mumbled into my shoulder.
"And I, have missed you. Now come in! We don't want to miss the parade! Bye Mrs. Sail- I mean Elizabeth!" I exclaimed.
"Bye kids! Have fun and be safe!" Mrs. Sailer responded as Kiera and I ran down to my car, neither of us wanting to miss any of the parade.

What did one leaf say to the other? I'm falling for you.
