12:59

it was 12:59. charlie checked her phone almost every ten seconds to see what time it was.

usually charlie would be late for meetings, appointments, and so on, but this time she was extra early. in fact, she'd been standing there, on the exact spot where she waited for their first date, for more than fifteen minutes.

it wasn't even cold, but she felt like she was almost freezing to death. whether it was the nerves or the fact that she'd been standing still for fifteen minutes, she didn't know.

impatiently tapping her foot, she hoped he'd show up. she hoped it wouldn't be like the last time they were supposed to meet at the café. she hoped she wouldn't be left standing, only for him to bail again.

she mentally heard the clock ticking. 1:00.

and there he was. exactly on time. she was relieved, but stressed.

with every step he took towards her, she felt her heartbeat rise and drop at the same time. she calmed down and freaked out at the same time.

she loved him and hated him at the same time.
