Sana's Real Hero

A dark corner of a cupboard, and hiding in it, is a young child of 10 years. Her mother has asked her to stay there and not to make any noise. She has to stay there until her mother comes. But she is scared, it's so dark in there. She slowly opens the door of the cupboard and tries to see. There her papa and mumma are standing. Two men with guns are talking to them. And suddenly one fires the gun into the air. The girl closes her eyes. Then some other shots are fired repeatedly and she hears the cries of her mother. She opens her eyes to see her parents on the ground. The men are not there but they are firing. Mixed noises of bullets and cries of her family makes her terrified. She sits down and closes her ears to stop the noise. And then everything goes silent. The girl stays there for some time and then she slowly comes out of the cupboard and goes near her mother and turns her to see blood. And she gives a cry.

Sana wakes up with a cry,"Mumma.." She is covered with sweat. She has been seeing the same dream for the second consecutive night after she had been back from the Hotel. Actually this is not a dream but a snippet of her past. She had lost everyone of her family, that unfortunate night when few gun men had entered her home in Punjab. The sound of crackers still gives her a shiver, reminding her of that night. She was scared beyond thinking when bullets were fired at the hotel that night.

Rinky comes into her room, hearing her cry. She sits besides her and asks," What happened? Again saw the same dream?" Sana doesn't reply. Rinky takes a towel and wipes her face and says,"Stop thinking about those things. Divert your mind to something else and these nightmares will stop." Sana replies," I can't. I try but I can't. The attack made me relive all those memories again. Why this happened again tell me Rinky?" Rinky smiles and says,"Di, you must think the good things that has happened in the incident not the fear part." Sana doesn't understand what she mean. Rinky says," The attack happened but you are safe. You didn't get hurt. And most importantly you met a real hero." Sana looks at her and asks," Real hero?" Rinky says," Aur nahi toh kya? Movie heros don't actually fight goons. They use body double to do heroic stunts. But that manager guy, Sidharth ussne toh akelehi uss terrorist ko pakda..He saved you and many others. He is the real hero."

The words 'real hero ' stuck in the minds of Sana. She resumes her movie shooting and when she sees the actor acting with her, she starts thinking about Sidharth. She sees Asim Khan at one party and her heart fills with disgust. And then her mind goes again to Sidharth. How different is he from her real hero, her Siddy boy!

Rinky shows Sana all the features on Sidharth showcased on the news channels. She says looking at his picture," Yeh Sidharth jitna brave hai, utna hi handsome bhi hai. Any girl who will marry him will be lucky don't you think so di?" Sana doesn't reply but just smiles. Rinky continues,"Any girl wishes for a handsome, good, honest and protective husband. You must also look for a husband who should have all these qualities. Don't ever marry the movie hero but a real hero like this Sidharth..Kya bolti ho usse yes, Siddy boy.." And she starts laughing saying this.

This statement makes Sana think seriously about her life. What has she been doing all these years? Working from a young age, taking care of her extended family and been in a relationship with a guy like Asim Khan. She is loves her work but she has never found the comfort at the end of the day in her home. She had felt the care, protection and comfort in the arms of her Siddy boy. At that instant she makes a decision which will change everyone's life forever.

Sana asks her Mamaji, Mamiji and her cousins to be present in the living room. She has to announce her decision to them. She starts,"I have made a decision and I have called all of you here to tell that." Mamiji making a face says,"Sun rahe hain Bunty ke papa, yeh ladki abhi akele faisla kar rahi hai. Itni badi ho gayi hai ab. Abb hum logon ka kya kaam hai?" Mamaji stopping her says,"Uff..bas kar Teji, usse bolne de..Sana bolo kya bolna hai."

Sana after taking a deep breathe and says," I want to get married." Mamiji gets shocked. Actress getting married in Bollywood means end of career. She looks at her husband and her husband says,"What are you saying? Marriage? This is not the time or age to get married. Wait for few years and then I will talk to Khan ji about your marriage to Asim." Sana looks at him and says," Kitne saal exactly mujhe wait karna padega, jara bolenge?" Mamiji says,"Kitni besaram ho gayi hai? Apne munh se apne shaadi ki baat kar rahi hai." Sana starts to loose her cool, she raises her voice and says,"Hain hun main besharam..You people will never get me married. So I have made my decision to marry." Mamaji trying to cool things says," What is the hurry? You are at the point of your career where getting married will hamper everything." Sana gets up and starts shouting,"My life,I will do what ever I want. I am not asking your permission but I am just informing you." Mamaji says,"Fine. But I don't think Asim is ready to marry now." Sana picks up a centre piece from the table and throws it on the ground, crashing it into pieces. She says," Kya Asim Asim laga rakha hai, I am not marrying him." Mamiji is scared, she says," Kya kar rahi hai? Samjhaye kuch." Mama ji says,"Kisse shadi karna chahati hai?" Sana looks at Rinky and says," Siddy boy."
