"Good morning everybody!" I greeted happily, plonking down next to Katara and grabbing a chocolate-filled pastry. This was going to be a good day. Aang and Katara both replied with equally perky greetings, and Sokka simply let out a grunt in response, glaring at the opposite wall like it had murdered his dog.
"Aww, what's wrong with little ol' Sokka?" I spoke as though I was speaking to a baby, adding a little pout for extra measure. Sokka threw a croissant at me in response.
"He's just mad cause he got beaten up by a bunch of girls," Katara taunted from beside me as I took a bite out of the formerly mentioned croissant. Aang, Katara, and I all chuckled as Sokka let out a loud huff, flinging out his arms in exasperation.
"They just- they caught me off guard! It doesn't count!" He glared as I continued to laugh.
"Yah-huh. Or, maybe, they're just trained fighters and better than you." I told him, sending him a playful wink. He shook his head almost immediately.
"That can't be it! No girl should be a better fighter than a guy!" I would've slapped him had he not stood up and stalked to the door. "That's it! I'm going to go find them and prove that I'm better than every single one of them!" There was no room for us to tell him no as he slammed the door shut behind him.
"Well, that's going to well." Aang piped up. My jaw nearly dropped at the sarcasm laced through the normally delightful kids' voice.
"Now, now, Aang. Would you speak to your mother with that tone?" He sent me a look that reminded me that perhaps the family wasn't the best thing to bring into this. "Sorry, let me rephrase. Would you speak to Katara with that tone?" I sent him a wink as Katara shoved me in the side. Aang laughed whilst Katara playfully glared at me. I blew her a kiss in response. The rest of the morning was spent trading jokes and talking about our next few moves. Katara wasn't very keen on the idea of staying in this town for much longer, and I had to agree.
"When word starts spreading that you're here, the Fire Nation will come running," Katara told Aang, though he seemed to ignore her comment. I chuckled and nodded.
"And hopefully they'll bring Prince Zuko - whew! I would let that boy run me over with a truck!" Katara and Aang did not appreciate that comment. I shrugged, "Hey, y'all can't deny he's hot - maybe that's the perks of being a fire bender?" They chose to ignore me.
"But the villagers love having me here! They're even cleaning up the statue in my honor!" Aang exclaimed, motioning to the Kyoshi statue behind us. Katara smiled at him.
"Well, it's nice to see you so excited about being the Avatar. I just hope it doesn't all go to your head." Katara mentioned, giving me a look from the corner of her eye. I nodded in agreement - popularity tends to make people more than slightly egotistical.
"Come on, you know me better than that. I'm just a simple monk." He stood up and leaned against the window. Almost immediately, ear-piercing shrieks could be heard from outside, and Katara and I stood up to look, only to find a crowd of young girls calling for Aang. Katara and I exchanged a look and she rolled her eyes at Aangs cheeky smile. He was quick to run out the door to them.
"He is anything but a simple monk," I muttered and Katara nodded her head in agreement.

Katara and I spent the rest of the morning collecting supplies for the next leg of our journey. We had tried to pay for things but the villagers denied our money, due to our ties with Aang - honestly, it was lucky considering we only had a few coins anyways. We stocked up a few baskets of supplies, deciding that we really should be heading out very soon, or the Fire Nation would come here - and though Zuko is a fine work of art, I doubt he'd have much hesitation in burning us all to a crisp.
It was after lunchtime when Katara and I were beginning to head back to our room that we came across Aang and his hoard of fangirls.
"Hey Katara, Caoimhe," He greeted, walking towards the both of us.
"Oh, good. Can you help me carry this back to the room?" Katara asked him, moving to hand him the basket she was holding. Aang leaned away from it.
"Sorry, I can't right now. I'm taking the girls for a ride on Appa, do you wanna come?" I see how it is, invites Katara but doesn't invite your loyal airbending student. It's fine. I don't even wanna go anyways.
"Watching you show off for a bunch of girls does not sound like fun." Yeah, you tell him Katara.
"Well, neither does carrying your basket," Aang argued. I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah but these baskets are full of supplies for our trip, and I hate to break it to you kid but they're slightly more important than fueling your ego by playing around with some girls," I interjected, picking up my own basket and walking back to the room. Behind me, I heard Katara and Aang's disagreement getting a little more heated, and soon Katara stalked up to me, letting out a loud sigh.
"Me? Jealous! Who does he think he is?" She cried, apparently quite rattled.
"Probably the Avatar," I told her, shrugging as she sent me a glare. I rolled my eyes with a smile at Katara. "Come on, let him be. He'll get over it pretty soon anyways - or the girls will get over him - either way, we're leaving in the morning so it'll be fine." Katara sighed at my words.
"Yeah, you're right... but still..." She muttered. I shook my head as I put the basket down now that we were back in our room.
"It'll all be fine, Katara." I yawned. "Anyways, I'm going to go have a nap - wake me up at dinner, or whenever Sokka's back so I can have some entertainment." I waved and walked back to the comfy bed I had been missing since I left it this morning, collapsing onto it and falling asleep almost immediately.
