INT. DOREEN'S HOUSE/LOUNGE - DAY
A tired looking lounge. The walls are decorated with dated floral wallpaper. Several porcelain dog ornaments surround the room.
The fire place has a collection of photos, more ornaments and a decorative Diana and Charles plate. The whole room is thirty years out of date.
DOREEN, a 68 year old women sits alone at the table sipping a cup of tea. She is dressed in a nightgown and slippers. Her hair is held up tightly by rollers and her make up is smudged badly across her face.
The table is covered in final demand and debt collection letters. Doreen sifts through them one by one.
EXT. DOREEN'S STREET/FRONT OF HOUSE - DAY
A black BMW pulls up outside. Two men get out and walk up the pathway towards the front door. They are dressed in matching dark rain macs, trilbies and black brogues.
The smaller man holding a leather briefcase is MACKENZIE, late 20's, British. The taller man is MOON, Mid 40's, American.
MACKENZIE: What do you think?
MOON: It's very dull, uninspiring.
MACKENZIE: I meant what do think about the case?
MOON: I was talking about the case.
MACKENZIE: Oh, Well I guess it's nothing new to you.
MOON: What's this your second week?
MACKENZIE: Third.
MOON: I dunno how you guys do it.
MACKENZIE: What?
MOON: Live here in this country. On these little streets. In your funny little houses.
MACKENZIE: I live at my moms.
Moon knocks the door.
MOON: I'll take the lead.
The door opens on the latch. Doreen pokes her head through the gap.
DOREEN: What?
MOON: Good afternoon ma'am.
DOREEN: Look I still don't have it.
MOON: Excuse us?
DOREEN: It's like I told the last lot. I don't have it. I will probably never have it. You're not coming in.
MOON: Have what?
DOREEN: Your money.
MOON: We're not here for money ma'am.
DOREEN: You're not getting the TV.
MACKENZIE: We don't want the TV.
MOON: Look we don't mean to disturb you but...
DOREEN: Well what are you then? Water, gas, electric, council tax?
MOON: Ma'am if you just let me...
MACKENZIE: Water.
MOON: What?
MACKENZIE: Yeah we're investigators from the water company. We received a phone call in regards to this property.
DOREEN: This is a new one. So you're not debt collectors then?
MOON: No ma'am.
MACKENZIE: We have a duty to investigate all disturbances.
