"Myles? What are you doing her-"
"Is Briar home? I need to talk to her!" I spoke over the top of her, not caring too much for polite greetings.
"Uh...yeah. She's home. She's in her bedroom, but..." Abbey began, but I walked right past her, & began running up the staircase.
"I don't think now is a good time to talk to her though!" Abbey called out to me, trying to get my attention, but I didn't have time to listen. I needed to see, Briar.
I made it to her bedroom door, & barged right in, only realising afterwards what a bad idea that probably was. She could have been getting changed for all I knew, but I didn't have time to think about that.
As soon as I was in her bedroom, I spotted her sitting on her bed, & she was talking to some random guy who was standing at the end of her bed, laughing about something.
As soon as they knew I was there, it went silent, & the tension immediately grew. Briar looked at me with a saddened expression, whilst the guy watched me with confusion.
"Myles?" she asked, as if she was questioning if I was actually there, or if she was imagining it.
"Briar, are you okay? I heard about what happened the other night." I blurted out in a hurry, as I took a few steps closer to her. She took a second to process what I said, then shook her head, as if she was trying to shake the confusion from her mind.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, curiously.
"I came to see if you were alright." I replied, wondering if she had heard me the first time.
"Well... I'm fine, thanks. You can leave now." she said, not meeting my gaze, but I could tell that she was upset. She really did hate me.
"Wait, you're Myles? The ex-boyfriend, right?" the guy asked, pointing a finger at me questioningly.
"Yes, I'm Myles. Who the hell are you?" I asked, getting rather annoyed.
"Elliot." he replied, casually.
"Elliot, aye? Are you trying to steal my girl, Elliot?" I asked, raising my voice slightly.
"Yo man, we're just friends. You need to chill." Elliot said, sticking his hands up, as if to say 'relax'.
"Just friends? Why are you in her bedroom then?" I asked, getting really pissed off. I was a whole new level of jealous now.
"I think Briar is old enough to decide who she wants to date, so back off." Elliot started, which sent my blood boiling.
"I think you should back off before I make you." I snapped, nearing towards him, with my fists clenched.
"Oh really? You think you're so tough?" Elliot said, taking a few steps towards me, & he looked furious.
Suddenly, Briar pushed her way in between us, & placed her hands on my chest & pushed, as she tried to desperately put some space between us.
"Stop it! Both of you. Just stop!" she shouted, trying to get our attention.
Elliot & I, glared at each other, then Elliot backed down, & shook his head, as if he was disappointed. He walked over to the chair by Briar's dutchess, & grabbed his coat that was draped over the back of it. He then started walking towards the door but stopped, & looked directly at me.
"You're pathetic." he simply said, not letting his voice or facial expression change. He then looked at Briar, gave her a slight smile, & said, "I'll text you later," then he left.
"What a moron." I said, chuckling lightly. Briar turned her head to look at me, & frowned.
"He's my friend, Myles!" she simply said, earning an eye roll from me.
"He's trying to get into your pants!" I explained, which clearly struck a nerve for her.
"Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. Who cares?!" she yelled, & I had to admit that I was pretty scared of the furious blonde in front of me.
"Who cares? I care! I don't want you hurt. He has 'heart breaker' written all over him." I replied, yelling back at her.
"Really, Myles?! The last thing I want right now is another relationship. Even if I liked Elliot in a romantic way, which I don't; I wouldn't date him, because you broke me! I don't want another boyfriend." She screamed, but her voice broke in the middle, as tears began to stream down her face. She sobbed uncontrollably, as she went & sat on the end of her bed. I didn't know what to say or do, but I hated seeing her like this, & it was all my fault.
"I'm sorry, Briar..." I said, in a soft tone. She wiped at her eyes, then slowly lifted her head up, so she could look at me.
"Why are you really here, Myles?" she asked, curiously. I felt partly lost.
When Briar wasn't around, I felt lonely, & somewhat empty. Knowing I couldn't text her, or call her, made me realise how badly I had messed up. I missed her; & most importantly, I think I loved her!
I had turned Jacquie away. I told her I needed time away from her, & she was okay with that. I hadn't bothered to try & contact her, as Briar was really the only thing on my mind. Briar had somehow put a spell on me, & I was mesmerised.
"I came to get my girl back!" I simply replied, watching Briar's face contort with confusion.
"Why's that?" she asked curiously.
"Well, after I messed up & lost her, I realised how badly I needed her. She makes me happy! She makes me laugh! She's kind, caring, beautiful, funny, & smart! And she's so so talented. I was a real idiot when I let her go.. I miss her, & I need her!" I replied, practically pouring my heart out to her.
"Just to be clear, you are talking about me?" Briar asked, but then smirked afterwards, & I knew it was a joke. I chucked lightly, then nodded my head yes.
"I need you, & want you back!" I explained, as I walked towards her, & placed my hands on top of hers, interlacing our fingers slightly. She smiled at the gesture, wiping away the remainder of her tears.
"I miss you too!" she replied.
"Do you want me back?" I asked curiously. I gave her hands a slight squeeze.
"I do!" she simply replied. She looked at me & our eyes locked. We neared each other, then our lips connected, & it felt amazing!
We kissed for a good thirty seconds before we finally pulled away, & it was an incredible feeling. Kissing Briar had never felt so amazing!!
"Are you busy tonight?" she asked, raising an eyebrow at me curiously.
"Not that I know of." I replied, as I brushed a piece of her long, blonde hair, behind her ear.
"Great! You should stay for dinner. Dad & Abbey only got home yesterday, & they've both missed you." she explained, & I smiled.
"That sounds really good. I'll stay!" I answered, kissing her cheek lightly.
I fixed this bridge; but I had a feeling I'd come across many others that would need mending.
Time will tell...
