Eighteenth

Weeks had passed until the day of my birthday came. Mom and dad were ready to go while I was still having a final touch of my make-up. They were kinda excited more than me, the debutante. My friends were bombing me a messages and greetings.

"Ayos na po ma'am." sabi ng make-up artist.

I nodded and looked at myself in the mirror. Tumayo ako upang matingnan ko ng mabuti ang aking postura at ayos. I am wearing a silver long-flowing dress. My back is bare and it's kinda sexy.

"You look so gorgeous love." my mom commented with a proud smile plastered on her face. She's holding daddy's arm who's now teary eyed while looking at me lovingly.

"Come here, my princess."

I smiled at dad and went to him. Then, they both hug me warmly.

"We love you so much Nixsha." dad said.

"I do love you too, daddy and mommy."

"We better go, bago pa tayo magka-iyakan at masira ang ayos natin." biro ni mom.

We chuckled but then we agreed.

Sabay kaming tatlo papunta sa hotel which is the venue. Dinesen offered to drive me since he's my escort but the plan changed when he got a very important business deal that cannot be postponed. It's alright. Not a big deal since I understand how the business world works. He called me early in the morning to greet me. We talked for half an hour and after that naghanda na siya for his presentation. At ako naman ay naghanda na for the party. At lunch, he sent me messages saying he misses me and I should eat my lunch already. I called him after I received it and we talked for a while since he's in a hurry.

"Going at the venue with mom and dad, how about you?" I texted Dinesen since hindi pa siya nakapagpadala ng mensahe simula no'ng nag-break sila for a minute. He just sent me a message about what I was doing at that hour. I replied and waited for his response but it didn't come. I assumed that he's super busy.

It was a thirty minutes drive to the venue.

Dad's bodyguards assisted us while going in. Ang private elevator ang ginamit namin papunta sa tamang palapag kung saan gaganapin ang kasayahan. Kasama namin ang isang staff na nag-organize sa party. She's informing someone that we're coming in.

Balak ko sanang tawagan si Dinesen pero hindi ko na lang itinuloy ng makita ang aking mga kaibigan na nakaupo na sa iisang mesa. But I texted him kung nasaan na ba siya dahil malapit ng magsimula.

Hanggang sa magsimula na at wala pa ring Dinesen na dumating. He's quite busy, huh?

I don't do eighteen roses and candles. It's cliche' for me. It's just a birthday party celebration. Mom and dad gave a birthday speech while for my friends, it's Racka who gave.

"No offense meant to my other best friends but Nixsha's my very best friend. Kasi nga di ba, siya ang una kong naging friend though inaway ko pa siya dati kasi naman her yaya is so tatanga-tanga and so feeling pretty." sabi ni Racka. May narinig akong ilang tawanan dahil siguro sa conyo siyang magsalita. My pretty devil friends were only grinning.

"Happiest birthday freak. You knew I love you, ew." Racka said while rolling her eyes, I only chuckled, "We're friends since our prep-days and I'm glad that until now we still are. I'm happy for you kasi you had your captain na samantalang 'yong lee-baby ko still makipot pa rin." nakasimangot niyang sabi. Hindi ko na napigilan at tumawa na ako. "But anyway para saan ba't siya pa rin naman ang magiging daddy ng mga cute babies ko." Racka confidently said. " I consider our friendship as one of the best treasure I have. And I'm glad and thankful for it. Together with the other girls, we will conquer the universe.'' tumayo ako at lumapit kay Racka to give her a warm hug. Then, Ramleighn, Athena and Yeshera went to us.
