I don't answer Barney and after a few seconds, he takes that as his cue to run along and entertain those who actually give a shit about receiving his attention.
When I walk further into the house towards the living room, there's a large group of people sweating their asses off as they dance to the loud music that's playing through the large speakers sitting on the elevated hearth of the brick fireplace in the corner.
As if I'm permanently drawn to her, which come on, I most certainly am, I immediately notice Sarah in the middle of the group of people as she laughs and dances with Lexie.
Just like any other day of the week, she's stunning, taking my goddamn breath away.
She's outfitted in an ebony backless mini dress that I'm 100% positive she wasn't wearing when she left the house earlier. Knowing her, she changed in Lexie's car to avoid her parents seeing her dressed like that.
Yeah, there's no way Nate Daniels would allow her to walk out of the house dressed like that. Shit, no sane father would allow his teenage daughter to do so.
I know I wouldn't.
But since I'm eighteen, still technically a teenager, and childless; I find her dress to be hypnotizing and I can't take my eyes off of her.
What's new? She could be wearing a Hefty's garbage bag for a dress and you'd still drool over her.
Not refuting that statement at all.
That's love for you though.
As if she's just as drawn to me as I am her, Sarah happens to look up at me from across the room and a beaming smile emerges on her beautiful face. She beckons me over with a wave of her hand and I make my way through the crowd until I'm standing right before her.
"Hey," she yells over the music and leans up to give me a chastise kiss on my jaw.
"Hey," I smirk down at her while I grip her waist and pull her in closer to me.
I look over to discover Lexie beaming from ear to ear at the two of us. She gives me a subtle wink before sashaying over to some random guy who gladly takes her into his arms to dance.
I chuckle at her, then look back down at Sarah who's staring up at me with an amused expression.
"What?"
"Oh, just thinking about how I didn't get to see you last night at the senior graduation," she shrugs nonchalantly while putting her arms on my shoulders. She crosses her wrist over one another on the back of my neck and casually runs her fingers through my hair.
If only she knew what that single gesture does to me.
"You already knew I wasn't going to be there," I grin and she raises the corner of her mouth while rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, but Dad was really hoping you would've shown up. You know he sure as hell wasn't there to see Josh graduate," she snorts.
I laugh deeply, flipping the hair out of my face and Sarah reaches up with one of her hands to tuck it behind my ear.
"Fuck, I should've put it up," I groan as I step back, grasping at the thin elastic band around my wrist but Sarah stops me with a shake of her head.
