"You sure this is the place" I asked, looking up at the tall building. My brother Rick looked up at the hotel, then at me.

"Yeah, this is it" he said putting his map back in his bag.
I don't know why he bothered taking out the map. It's not like there is any other abandoned hotels ten miles into the woods.

The place had been abandoned for years, but it still seems to be in good condition considering all the storms it's been through.

Speaking of storms, we would all be cought in one if we all didn't get inside soon.

"We should get inside, the storms almost here" I said.
Rick checked his watch.

" We still have seven minutes, plenty of time to set everything up outside first."

I nodded, " Then we better start."
I tied my strawberry blonde hair into a ponytail and looked back at our friends.

You are probably wondering how eight teenagers came together to rob abandoned malls and grocery stores.

Well there is a pretty interesting explanation.

Let me explain. My name's Rose, me and my twin brother Rick are the leaders of a group of runaways. We call ourselves ' The Runaway Thieves' or ' T.R.T' for short.

We carve our initials into every place we stay. I do it with a small kitchen knife I got on the first day of our new lives.

The day when me and my brother disided to runaway from our foster parents. They didn't care about us, they just wanted the check.

I remember that day like it was yesterday, like it wasn't three years ago when we were fifteen.

    .........

"What do you think the fosters made us for dinner, Rick?" I asked my brother that day . He laughed and shook his head.

"Probably another 'fend for yourself' night, sis." He said.

We walked up the steps to our apartment and heard the sound of fighting. Rick went ahead of me and put his key in the lock.

The door opened and we followed the sound of fighting to the kitchen. Rick paused outside the doorway were our fosters couldn't see him. I stayed on the other side of the door- way.

"- Never wanted kids" our foster mom was saying.

" We need the money Marlee! We're in debt." Said Gabe, our foster dad.

" You are in debt. Your gambling addiction took away all your money. Then you took away all mine. That's it! I'm moving in with my sister Natalie."

She started moving towards the doorway, not yet seeing me or Rick. She almost made it when Gabe grabbed her rist and yanked her back behind him, her head hiting the oven.

She rubbed her hand on the back of her hand and it came away red.
"You asshole! You made me bleed. I'm callind the police!" Marlee said getting up.

Gabe looked at her and shouted " You can try, bitch!"

He grabbed her and threw her against the stove. Then he grabbed her her hair and banged her head against the stove. She passed out.

Gabe grabbed he neck and wouldn't let go. I couldn't just let him kill her.
I grabbed the kitchen knife off the counter behind him and stabed him in his back twice.
He fell to the floor, I didn't care if he was dead. I checked my foster mom, she was breathing.

I felt Rick's hand on my shoulder.

"We have to go," he said. " Rose!"

I looked over my shoulder knowing what he ment. I looked at him and said the three words that changed our lives forever

"Pack our things."

That day we took our things, Gabe's wallet, called 911, and never looked back.

.........

I felt Rick's hand on my arm, and I looked at him.

" Stop thinking about it, sis, it wasn't your fault."

I looked at him then my friends.
" let's just get inside."
