"Hello M'Lady."
Hearing that voice Marinette froze. Her heart began to race, and her breathing slowed. That voice... it was familiar, yet she couldn't match it to a face she knew. Slowly she turned around coming to a stop, in front of her stood a boy in a black leather suit. She looked at his face, curiosity showing in her bluebell eyes, she glanced at his emerald green eyes complimented by a coal black mask; and messy hair the color of sunflowers, a hint of familiarity appearing. Marinette examined his face looking at all of his features. "I feel like I know you, but at the same time I don't," Marinette whispered. She reached a hand out and lightly touched his cheek.
The boy closed his eyes feeling her warm touch on his cold skin. "I miss you," he mumbled, opening his eyes to look at her. He studied her face to see she was confused by his words.
"You... miss me?" Marinette questioned, her eyebrow rose. "Not to be rude but do I know you?" She looked into his eyes to see sadness, "I'm sorry..."
"It's not your fault, don't apologize," he sighed. He rubbed his neck, nervousness evident in his body language.
"Hey what's wrong?" Marinette asked looking worried. Sympathy showing in her face.
"It's just you used to before my dad screwed it all up," he replied looking down. His golden locks falling into his face hiding the sadness in his eyes.
"What do you mean?" Marinette asked, the cold air getting to her making her shiver and turning her pale cheeks a shade of rosy pink. "What do you mean by 'before my dad screwed it all up?"
"My dad wished you into an alternate world because he didn't like our relationship," he replied quickly, regretting it the minute it came out of his mouth, when he saw her shocked and terrified face.
"What-?!" Marinette gasped, when a memory rushed over her like a tidal wave.
~Flashback~
"Adrien... I love you," Marinette whispered. Adrien twirled around to see Marinette being pulled into a pinkish-orange vortex. He reached out latching onto her hand, fear plastering onto his pale face. "Let go, Adrien," Marinette said sternly, "Let go before you get sucked in too- please."
"No I won't, and you are crazy to think so. Besides we have no clue where it goes or what it will do to you. And if we get sucked in at least we'll be together." Adrien replied, looking at her with pleading eyes and tightened his grip on her hand, so she wouldn't slip and disappear from him and never return.
Marinette craned her neck to peer at the increasing portal growing each second, if it didn't get what it wanted it would engulf... everything. Each calculation she prophetized made her queasy because they all had one end- the destruction of her beloved home, Paris. "Adrien..." She whispered pulling him close and distracted him by giving Adrien a passionate goodbye last kiss before using her one free hand to relieve his tight grasp releasing, Marinette to her fate.
"Why do you want this? I can't live without you... I love you and only you!" He yelled, watching with sad broken eyes as Marinette was swallowed up by the spinning vortex.
~End of le flashback~
Marinette dropped the chalk, the memories were hazy but they frightened her all the same. The chalk hit the floor breaking into two pieces scattering white dust onto the classroom tile. She stumbled backwards bumping into the teacher.
"Hey you alright dear?" She asked tapping her pencil on her wooden desk, her patience dwindling.
"Miss," Marinette started her voice quivering, "may I use the restroom?"
The teacher looked at her wearily, seeing her pale face, she nodded. "Yes and perhaps the nurse's office after you're done. You're looking very pale, Marinette."
Marinette nodded making her pigtails bounce. She stepped towards the door, and pushed it open. Stepping into the hallway, the door closed behind her, she broke into a run.
The cold wind rushed against her face making it numb, her neck bare to the cold as her dark blue pigtails flew as she ran. Tears blurred her vision, when she bumped into someone's chest.
Marinette looked up to see Luka, his eyes displaying worry. He reached a hand out, using his thumb he gently wiped away her tears. "What's wrong, love?" She leaned forward placing her head on his chest. Luka looked down at the top of her head seeing her hair messy from running but beautiful all the same. He wrapped his arms around Marinette pulling her closer to him and hugged her softly. "You can tell me, Mari."
Marinette looked up at him, her bangs falling into her face covering her eyes. "It's just these past few days I've been having these- these..." She looked away, "these memories and visions of an alternate world. Gosh... I sound crazy." She turned her head back to look at him waiting for his reaction.
Luka lifted a hand and brushed her bangs behind her ear. "Honestly I've been having these visions of another reality too. Of camping in a forest with our friends, running from a knight the color of the midnight sky with a bloodred feather in his helmet. The last one I remember is talking to this person, but then it got fuzzy," Luka said, his face scrunching up trying to remember.
Marinette looked at him shocked,"you've been having them too?" She let out a relieved sigh, before realizing there might be another world and the dangers that it held. She shuddered remembering the monster and its fangs dripping a red liquid she hoped wasn't blood. "I'm scared, Luka. If this alternate reality is real... Then that means the horrors that I saw is real," Marinette barely whispered. She dropped her head, and looked at the floor; tears began to streak down her face once more.
Using his hand Luka gently lifted her chin and looked her in the eyes. "Hey don't cry," he whispered softly, "I know that all this sounds frightening. But no matter how dire the situation I will be there for you, and protect you no matter the cost." He hugged her once more, bringing her closer to his body, and kissed the top of her head.
Marinette stopped crying, and leaned more into the hug. His body keeping her warm from the cold autumn air, and for a moment she forgot about the situation.
