''Where the fuck have you been, you're coming back to Seattle right now'', William growled. It was late at night and he was still awake ready to send a search party at any moment now.

''Mr. Clark I am fine. My phone was out of charge and I bought it to life right now. Why are you so angry'', Macy replied softly and sensed William relax.

''Don't tell me nobody in your family has a phone, what are they living in forties. I'm so angry'', William was softer in his speech this time and Macy assumed he had lost the battle.

''Calm your tits down Mr. Clark, I'm on an official vacation and besides it totally slipped off my mind. I assume you are at home and how was the meeting'', Macy tried to change the subject.

''You should be glad you aren't here cause then it wouldn't have been my tits you would hyave to worry about'', he laughed cheekily.

''Ugh your mind is always in the gutter right'', she joined in the banter. She missed this. Wait what, already!

''Yep, what are you going to do about that'', he challenged her.

''It looks like a cup of black coffee and a cold shower sorta problem Mr. Clark so you gotta help yourself'', god this woman was giving him a boner from another city.

They talked for a few about random things and Macy realized that they weren't having a business conversation but just casual talk, getting to know him and warming up to him. It made her smile inwardly knowing how far they've come from his usual spiked up temper problems to them managing a call without arguing.

''You seem distracted'', she heard his bed dip low assuming she would be his last call before he sleeps making her blush harder.

''Yes, you are a very maddening and distracting woman'', he replied confidently.

''Then I'm glad'' a smile plastered on her face, a few more minutes and they hung up saying their good nights. Just when she was about to switch off her bed side light, Adam entered her room and he seemed happier and curious than usual.

''So, what's it with you and your boss'', he plopped himself on the bed and she shifted, making space for him.

''God not you to. For starters his name his William and nothing really. It's just that he's changed a lot since the time I began working for him. We are at better terms now and I like how things are going between us but that said and done I don't see anything happening beyond that'', she looked down at her fingers.

''Well how about you quit lying to yourself, just his name turns you all mushy. What is it then, is it him, isn't he keeping you happy'', he sighed.

''No, we are doing good, just that I don't want to end up falling for him and getting hurt, I don't know much about him and he is well he. So my insecurities tend to seep their way through my feelings for him and I hold back, that's all'', she opened up.

''You both need time. He seems like a nice man Macy, don't fool yourself by saying you don't like him, that's all I am saying'', he kissed her forehead and let her sleep.

Adam was in Macy's room by six in the morning dragging her out of bed to the stables. The sun dreamily sprawled its rays on the green luscious grass and the soil wet from the sprinklers whirling around the center of the field.

''Adam, you are so bugging, let me freshen up'', Macy was still trying to adjust to the bright light of the room.

'Wake up lazy head'', Adam grinned and left Macy on her own.

When she went down her dad was already in his boots and she fed the horses, took a ride and helped her dad with gardening. She looked up at her dad taking in his features that were now aging, he was still handsome for his age but his silvery grey hair and the baggy wrinkles under his eyes weren't going unnoticed. By the time it was already noon, the two of them were soiled with mud.

''Eww to the two of you'', Christina pointed the two of them to the bathroom disapprovingly.

''Eww yourself, go and lay the breakfast down'', Macy smirked. For breakfast they had the traditional fish and fries as Christina was not very good at cooking real food.

''I and Macy are going to bake today'', Christina announced.

''And I'll do the lunch'', interrupted Adam and everyone turned to him. He usually never exhibited his skills at home or outside work so today was a shock to the family and everybody cheered in chorus. It was afternoon by the time Christina and Macy had finished baking a banana and date cake with brandy sauce on the top.

''The lunch is served'', Adam announced proudly and motioned for everyone to take their seats.

Adam had worked wonders. He cooked fresh oysters on the half shell with champagne mignonette, Belgian fries served with a dipping sauce, and a salad with butter lettuce, goat cheese, warm fingerling potatoes, roasted bell pepper, eggplant and salmon.

''This is so good Adam. You should cook at home more often'', Macy appreciated. The rest of the lunch went in an ebb and flow. Branton was more than attentive on Macy which she doubted was because of her short blue, floral, sleeveless dress and settled upon changing it first thing after lunch.

''Could we please go shopping after lunch'', Christina was already clapping her hands, bouncing in her seat.

''Um I don't think'', and just as Macy was to decline the offer Branton interrupted.

''I won't be able to make it too, gotta catch up on some unattended matter'', he said dryly but his eyes danced at Macy.

''I was saying that I don't think I would mind some fresh air'', Macy concluded and heard Brantons sharp intake of breath. Christina excused herself from the table to change. When everyone was ready they had their dessert and left for the market.

Christina was a shopping fanatic and knew of almost every shop in Oregon. Adam had gone back to the restaurant for work and the three of them wandered listlessly. Macy appreciated the rustic shops lined one after the other, a pretty florist with white washed walls and blue detailing's boasting scented bouquets by the door and a local bakery smelling of fresh breads and frosty cupcakes when something exceptionally small caught Macy's eyes. It was a paper weight with a man resting his elbow on a jet plane with Oregon written on it.

''Give me a moment please'', Macy excused herself and entered the souvenir shop.

''How much is this paper weight for'', she tapped on the cashier's shoulder, his back facing her as he adjusted a few pieces on the shelf.

''10 dollars miss, should I pack it for you'', he asked excitedly.

She got the piece gift wrapped and paid for it leaving the shop quickly not wanting to direct too much attention from her father and sister. They walked further and Macy sighed in relief upon not being asked what she had bought when Christina murmured into her ears, only for her to listen, ''I saw that'', she winked.
