"I found myself longing to hear your voice, wanting to eat meals with you, wanting to hear you tell me you liked me... No matter how hard tried to forget you, it was just not possible. It soon dawned upon me that I simply couldn't live without you. And that's why, even though I didn't reveal myself to you, all these years, I have been working hard to fulfil the promises I made with you. And all this, you see around us right now, this is my present to you."

"I knew it-" Jisoo's eyes widened as she looked around the house once more, everything around her looking so familiar all of a sudden

"I knew it-" Jisoo's eyes widened as she looked around the house once more, everything around her looking so familiar all of a sudden. "It was you-"

"It was me," Taehyung confirmed with a small smile. "Even down to the smallest detail on your bed frame, which I bet you haven't seen till this day."

"I saw it."

Taehyung gasped softly. "You did-?"

"Yeah, a few days ago-" Jisoo chuckled softly. "Not gonna lie, it kinda freaked me out."

"I'm sorry it did-" Taehyung pouted. "It was supposed to be my own ting little secret so that I felt like I could feel like I was next to you when wasn't... I wouldn't have imagined that you'd see it-"

"No, but how?" Jisoo gasped as she shook her head in disbelief. "The house owner is Jeon Jungkook-"

"Yeah, my engineering junior-" Taehyung said softly as he reached out and brushed a strand of hair out of Jisoo's pale face. "Jeon Jungkook. He was the one who helped me buy the house under his name, and helped me with the renovation works as well... And throughout these five years, he kept his mouth sealed, I really owe that guy so much."

"How did the two of you even meet?"

"I met him a couple of days before I left..." Taehyung recalled. "We actually had a rocky start, because he looked like he took interest in you-"

"And you got jealous?" Jisoo grinned as she peered curiously at Taehyung. "Afraid of a handsome strong competitor like him?"

"Shh, let me finish my story-" Taehyung pouted at Jisoo, and she chuckled and nodded. "We had a rocky start but I met him a couple of times after that and he seemed like a great guy. He also got attached a while later to his current girlfriend, Park Chaeyoung-ssi, so with that out of the way, our friendship somehow blossomed. Before I left, I needed someone to help me settle certain things and he was the first person that came to mind. I know Park Jimin, that little brat, would eventually tell Jennie, and Jennie would have to tell you... so for years, I kept everything to myself."

"You're one heartless guy."

"I am," Taehyung said as he squeezed Jisoo's hand gently and looked up into her eyes once more. "That, I will admit. But the point is that all this while, I have been secretly looking after you in your lowest moments, Kim Jisoo. All these years, I never forgot the promises I made with you, I never forgot the memories we made... I never forgot you. I know this may be way too soon, but I really need to ask you something today-"

Jisoo pursed her lips, and the smile on her face faded into a more serious expression.

"Can we..." Taehyung swallowed hard, the nervousness in his heart showing through his voice. "Can we start over?"

Jisoo looked like she knew what exactly was coming, because the corners of her lips twitched a little and she let out an awkward smile as she slipped her hands out of Taehyung's slowly, looking away. "Your cheek has been bleeding from earlier, let me go get some ointment to help you treat it-"

Jisoo got up from her seat and turned to leave but with one swift motion, Taehyung reached out and grabbed her by her hand, pulling her back down into the sofa and slipping one arm around her neck, resting his chin on her shoulder. Jisoo's breath hitched.

"I'm sorry."

Jisoo bit her lower lip, not knowing what to say, or do, or whether she should even move.

"Five years ago, I know I made the choice that turned your life upside down," Taehyung said, closing his eyes as he leaned against the curve of Jisoo's neck. "I thought I did the right thing at first, but I soon realised how wrong I was. I'm sorry, please forgive me, Kim Jisoo."

Jisoo's hands, that lay resting on her lap, slowly rose to hold on to Taehyung's. "It's not that I don't want to forgive you... and I myself know I still have feelings for you... Everything is just such a mess in my mind and I- well, I-"

"That's okay, you can take all the time you need to recover from your shock, I understand-" Taehyung whispered gently. "But don't push me away, Jisoo-ya, please. I'm really sorry... and I love you."

He loved her.

Jisoo swallowed hard as her cheeks turned bright pink. She pushed Taehyung's arm away abruptly and got to her feet at once, stuttering profusely.

"I- I- I'll... I'll- I'll go get the first aid kit."
