"hey mom, dad!?" ricky called out as he took off his shoes at the front door. he dropped his backpack onto the couch and made his way into the kitchen. the sight of his parents laughing and cooking together made his heart feel warm and suddenly he forgot everything that happened today.

"hey ricky!" his mom greeted. the boy gave both of his parents a hug and leaned over the kitchen island while they continued to cook.

"what are we having for dinner today?" ricky asked as he popped a chip into his mouth. his parents gave each other a smile and glanced at ricky, "what?"

"we're making your favorite meal, cheeseburgers," his dad happily said while he grilled the meat. ricky nodded his head with a laugh.

"great cause i am starving after work," the boy said, "you would not believe what kind of day i had."

"well, what happened?" his mom asked and looked up from the cutting board. ricky's mom gave her son a concerned look.

"some girl today came in the parlor and gave me so much attitude and we just started fighting and i don't know," the boy complained. he ran his fingers through his hair and leaned his forearms on the counter, "she posted all about it on twitter which pissed me off even more."

"who was this girl anyways?" the dad asked as he assembled all of the burgers for dinner.

"nini salazar-roberts," ricky bluntly said. his parents quickly looked up from their cooking with shocked expressions.

"the rich girl that's been your classmate since like .. forever?" ricky's dad asked and pushed his plate towards his son. ricky grabbed the burger and took a bite out of it while nodding his head.

"hey, she's not just a rich girl," the mom implied and glared at the two boys while they rolled their eyes, "nini is actually very sweet. i like her."

"well that makes one of us," ricky bluntly said.
