Carters POV:

I woke up yawning as the voice of Roddy Ricch rapping loudly to Die Young sounded from my phone. I sighed then hit snooze. As soon as I tried to roll over there was a knock on my door.

"WHAT!?"

"Attitude? Momma said get up and get ready for school" my little brother spoke through my door.

I sighed. What the fuck she want man? My alarm literally JUST went off and she's sending him already to wake me.

"Leave me the hell alone!" I said then shut my eyes again

"CARTER!" My momma yelled as she swung my door open. I quickly sat up and tried to look woke

"Are you up?" She said with a basket of laundry in her hand

"Yes momma. I'm up" with that she left and I laid back down.

Just when I dozed back off to sleep, I heard footsteps coming towards my door so I jumped up quickly.

"Cart-" my momma stopped talking immediately when she seen me up

"Please hurry before you miss the bus"

"I'm not getting on the bus. Arian is coming get me"

"Arian!? Tuh. Okay Arian. Why can't you ride the bus again? And why must you ride with Arian" she frowned

"What's wrong with her? And I refuse to ride a bus which was provided by the school board" I fake smiled

"And why don't you like the school board again?" My mom shook her head

"Because they're some racist, rich, snooty white folk who think they know what it's like for BLACK teenagers who go to a whit majority school. The poor decisions they make and the schools they choose to cater to just really makes no sense to me"

"Well you decided to go to school there when you could've just went to school with your siblings.." I cut her off

"I could have but I refuse to do that. Everybody knows that going to the same school as your younger siblings is basically putting a personal letter on their door every morning that reads hey can you please do something to embarrass me today at school? Thank you, you're the best" my mom laughed

"Girl. You watch entirely too many movies. Go get dressed please"

I quickly got dressed and grabbed an apple off the counter to eat as I wait for Arian to pull up. God she was taking longer than usual. School is almost over for us, and she's been doing good at being on time this year. I don't know what could be holding her up although I do have an idea.
