3rd Person
It was a peaceful night. Everyone was sleeping in their huts. A full moon shining brightly in the night sky.
On this night the small cry of a newborn infant could be heard.
This child was the son of chief Magnus and his wife Ali. They had been greatly awaiting this day. The baby was small, not that they cared about his size. To them he was perfect. The infant was wrapped tightly in a blanket before he was given to his mother. "He's beautiful." Said Ali. Magnus looked down at his son. "Welcome home my boy" he said with a great big grin on his face.
The moment was perfect. They were a happy family.
The moment was soon interrupted when the village elder walked over. She looked up at the new parents with smile on her face. "He is the one." Was all she said to them. "Are you sure?" Magnus asked in disbelief. The elder nodded. Magnus looked back at his son still with a look of disbelief. "What are we going to call him dear?" Asked Ali. Magnus thought for a minute before his wife spoke up. "How about Hiccup?" "That's a wonderful name."
~ 5 years later ~
A young boy was sitting on the living floor of his house playing by himself. The boy had forest green eyes and a mess of auburn colored hair on his small head. He had a small stuffed dragon and some other wooden figures. A few moments later his father walked in.
"Come on Hiccup it's time for you to find your dragon!" His father told him. The boys face immediately lit up after that. "Yay!" The child shouted in excitement. Every child on Calth, once their parents thought they were ready, go out and find a dragon that will be their companion. Dragons were highly respected creatures on the island of Calth. Hiccup took a small basket of fish and followed his father out. "Daddy, what dragon do you think is right for me?" The small boy asked. "Well I don't know Hiccup. But trust me you'll know when you find them." He reassured his son. Hiccup had been waiting for the day he could get his own dragon. Sure it was fun to play with his father's Razorwhip, Dash, or his mother's Deadly Nadder, Sharptail, but it wasn't the same as having his own dragon.
It was around noon and the still had yet to even see a dragon. 'That's odd' Magnus thought. Hiccup didn't seem to mind though. He knew he would find the perfect dragon for him.
After a while the sky began to darken. Hiccup was a little disappointed about not finding a dragon but they could try again tomorrow. On their way back home they heard a rustle in the bushes. They turned around in an instant only to find there was nothing there. Magnus turned around to continue walking but Hiccup stayed where he was. He moved a couple inches closer to the push in front of him.
He got down on he knees and pushed the leaves back. He was surprised to find a two small green orbs staring right into his. Magnus noticed his son not following him. He turned around and saw his son looking into the bush. Then he saw the small eyes. "Hello" said Hiccup tot he small creature. "H-hello." It responded nervously. "It's okay I'm not going to hurt you." The small creature then slowly crawled out of the bush. It was a baby dragon. The dragon had scales as black as the night sky, with bright green eyes that just stared into your soul. "Do you want a fish." The small dragon nodded. Hiccup reached into his basket pulling out a small fish. He held his hand out with the fish. The dragon slowly opened its mouth to reveal nothing but gums. "You don't have teeth?" The boy questioned. Then the dragons teeth shot out of its gums and took the fish. "Cool" said Hiccup.
All while this was happening Magnus was standing behind him watching the whole thing take place. This wasn't the first time he had seen his son talk to dragons. It was skill he had always possessed. He liked to talk with his parents dragons all the time. Something that was new to him however, was the small black dragon sitting in front of his son. He had never seen any dragon like it.
"Do you have a family?" Asked Hiccup. "No, I'm all alone." Replied the dragon. "Well you can come home with us if you like. We don't kill dragons here." Explained Hiccup. The dragon thought for a minute before nodding. Hiccup took the small dragon in his arms and walked towards his father. "Look daddy I got a dragon!" Hiccup told his father.
"Good job Hiccup! Let's head home so we can show your mother and so we can find out the species of your new friend." Said Magnus. The three headed back towards the village. When they got home Magnus pulled out the book of dragons. Unlike many other islands where the book of dragons had tips on how to kill the dragons this one had tips on how to train them. "Lets see" Magnus muttered to himself.
While Magnus was trying to find the dragon Hiccup went to show his mother his new friend. "Mommy, I got a dragon today!" Hiccup said with excitement. "That's wonderful dear" his mother replied while making dinner. Hiccup presented the small dragon to his mother. "Oh he's beautiful Hiccup. What's his name?" She asked. Hiccup hadn't thought of a name yet. "Um...... How about Toothless?" He said remember how the dragons teeth worked. "That's a nice name Hiccup."
Magnus had been searching through the entire book of dragons had so far found nothing. But when he flipped to the last page there was nothing but a few words and a sketch. At the top of the page there were two words.
Night Fury
"Hiccup could you bring your dragon over here for a minute." Magnus asked. Hiccup walked over with the newly named Toothless still in his arms. Magnus looked at the drawing then a the dragon. He did this multiple times. 'It can't be. Night Furies were hunted to extinction' Magnus thought to himself.
"Ali, I think our son just found the last Night Fury." Magnus calles to his wife. She walked over at the news. Looked down at the drawing then back a the little dragon. Both parents were in disbelief.
There was only one problem though. There weren't very many tips on how to train a Night Fury because not many people had seen one.
The parents looked up to see the son had wandered off into the living room. He was on the ground playing with the little dragon. Both were very happy in each other's presence. The two were rolling around and play fighting.
"Well if it makes Hiccup happy we will do our best to train this dragon."
Well that's chapter one finished. If anyone could give me feedback that would be great so I know if I should keep writing or not. Hope you all enjoyed! If you guys did like it then I will write another chapter. Bye Bye! 👋
