Previously...

She makes herself a sandwich as she sees the clock on the wall.

She collects her things for school and heads out the door...

~~~
Elisa could feel her heart pounding in her chest.
She was nervous.
She was scared.
She was worried.
She could feel so many emotions at once.
Would she be brave enough to get new friends?
Would others like her?
Would she get bullied?
Would she have a hard time?
There were so many thoughts running through her mind.
What could she do?
Just keep on walking she thought to herself
With each step she could feel the pound of her heart.
Like a hammer hitting her hard on the chest.
Step by step she gets closer to the new school.
The place that would put her broken soul back together, piece by piece, or the place that would break her soul completely.
Once and for all.
As she keeps on walking, she could see the building getting closer and closer.
Elisa could feel her palms begin to sweat, her heart was racing, she felt sick.
She felt sick to her stomach.
She wanted to get in bed and wrap herself with a blanket to feel like a burrito.
She observed the building.
Taking in every last detail.
She didn't have the courage to go in.
Elisa wasn't brave enough.
After a few minutes of deep thought and thinking it over, she found the strength in her to walk up to the building and open the door.
I mean,
was there another option?
No.
She must do this.
She has to do this.
She needs to do this.
Not for anyone, but for herself.
She wanted to believe.
She wanted to believe that there was still hope in this cruel world.
She walks down the hallway to the principal's office.
Elisa had already come to see the school with her mom.
And she was thankful for this.
This meant she didn't have to ask anyone for directions.
She grabs the handle of the door tightly, pulling it towards her.
She sees other students also getting their schedules.
Elisa waits for her turn.
She grabs her schedule quickly and leaves.
Her palms sweaty and heart pounding.
She makes her way to class.
Math.
She mentally groans.
Elisa hates math.
