One day, in the courtyard while Gracelyn was reading a book alone, Remus walked up to her shyly after Sirius berated him the entire morning.

She looked up from her book and was very shocked to see him. She snapped her book loudly and stood up quickly, nearly smacking into Remus's chest.

"Remus, hi, what can I - what can I do for you?"

Even if she changed her outer appearance a little and gained more confidence, she was still a babbling mess in front of Remus.

He awkwardly scratched the back of his neck. "I - uh - just wanted to talk, I suppose."

"Oh. Um - sit. Let's sit."

She sat back down and patted the empty seat next to her. He sat down next to her and angled his body in order to look at her.

"What did you want to talk about?" she asked.

"Well, we didn't get to talk much last year before summer started. I thought we could catch up, and perhaps become friends again."

"Remus, we never stopped being friends," she retorted. "It was just an odd time after - you know - you broke the agreement. It was my fault, really. I was too sensitive."

Remus shook his head roughly, tossing it side to side, causing Gracelyn to smile. "No, no, really, it was my fault."

"But, I lashed out at you," she reminded.

"Well, you were hurt. That's only normal. So, really, it was my fault. I didn't take your feelings into consideration."

The two smiled at each other. Gracelyn stuck out her hand and Remus shook it.

"Here's to reuniting once more," she said.

"Here's to reuniting once more," he repeated. "So - uh - you and Wood. When did that happen?"

"Oh. It's like our past agreement. We just do it to pass time, I suppose. I do, at least. Tobias is trying to make a girl jealous."

"That doesn't sound smart," Remus stated.

"Tobias has never been smart. We're childhood friends, you see," Gracelyn revealed.

"Oh. That makes - That makes sense."

"Yeah."

Remus rubbed the back of his neck. "I feel like I just made things awkward."

She shrugged. "Only a bit. Shall we get to class? Professor Slughorn may like you, but that doesn't mean he'll be impressed with us showing up late."

Remus lifted his arm up, letting Gracelyn take it. "Yes, you're right."

They walked to the Potions classroom, mentally preparing themselves for the N.E.W.T. lesson that day. They made it only a few seconds after they were supposed to, but Professor Slughorn let them off.

"Today, we will be talking about Amortentia," he announced, taking out a vial with pink liquid in it. "Can anyone explain what that is?"

Gracelyn raised her hand. "Amortentia is the most powerful love potion in existence. It causes a powerful infatuation or obsession from the drinker."

"Correct, Miss Cohen. It has a different aroma for everyone who smells it, reminding each person of the things that they find most attractive, even if the person doesn't acknowledge or is unaware of their fondness for the object of their affection themselves. I have brewed one already for a demonstration. I would like each one of you to line up and smell it."

The students lined up, one by one. Gracelyn went first, sniffing it. She pulled back in slight horror. She smelled parchment, mint, and chocolate. She looked over her shoulder at Remus who tilted his head at her.

"Sorry," she mumbled, moving away.

Remus took her spot and leaned in, sniffing the cauldron. His eyes flickered to Gracelyn who noticed and looked away, bright pink in the face. He smelled wood, cherries, and chocolate.
