I needed coffee.

Of course what was new about this really? I just didn't expect to see you at the shop, looking almost refreshed in a way. The dark circles under your eyes were basically gone.

"Hey Bri." You greeted me, a smile on your lips.

"Hi." I murmured, "I'd like a large espresso with whip cream."

Even if the whip cream didn't go with it, you didn't say anything. "Three seventy-two." Handing you the cash, I waited, bouncing on the balls of my feet.

Why was I so antsy?

"Stressed?"

"Hmm?" I zoned back in to focus on you. You had a small smile on your face til I relaxed you were talking to me. "Oh, yeah this english paper is not going well."

You got started on my coffee, turning on the machine and doing whatever you needed to do. "Do you need help?"

Help was the same thing I asked you if you needed. I shook my head, fingers gripping the cup you handed me.

"Thanks, but no." Waving bye to you, I exited the shop without a backward glance.

Even though you were calling my name.

Love,
