[ an ode to elennie ]

there she goes,
with her ebony hair
that wraps around her waist
dark eyes, wild eyes,
ah sunshine!

vibrating under the sky with her laugh,
her motions a dance in the breeze
like a wildflower on the roadside,
small silvery strands on a
summer's worth of escapades

fairy wings and dandelion seeds,
orange pulps and vintage aviators,
picnic baskets and waterfalls,
burnt noses, flushed cheeks,
and the strong smell of the ocean
on her newly dried clothes

you will never keep up with her,
she is daylight
