Lullaby of an Angel

From high above she looked down at the burning broken land

With a world so dark she dreamt light

She let herself fall, drift from the clouds

Crash landed into the arms of a young lad

He showed her happiness, hope, love

Her light shown as bright as a star

Spirit glistened like a fine diamond

Then he dropped her.

Her wings became bent and she bared a few scars

The lad never considered the wrong he had committed.

She struggled but managed to fly once again

Her faith still strong yet beaten.

One harsh day a strong storm struck

She blew at the feet of a demon

Such opposites attracted creating electricity

More danger and passion than she'd ever felt.

Struck by a sirens call he soared away leaving her sore and empty.

She was crushed

Light once possessed barely shined

Her wings were tattered and blackened from such harsh treatment.

She hid from the world afraid of its power

Refuge was found in dear friends she held near.

A peasant she fell for and the peasant helped

He gave her a spirit and laughter

joy and courage

What did the lad do?

He stomped on what he had built

Ripped her fragile wings from her pale back

Stripped her of anything bright.

Darkness and loathing consumed her shattered heart

She never trusted outsiders again

Never let anyone in.

Friends were the only substance to her normality.

This angel had become a demon herself

She became lost in the wonders of pain and ignorance

Yet a part of her still wished for others to make better choices

This angel was long ago lost.

Broken and bruised and abandoned and scarred.

Save the poor angel, repair her spirit, rejuvenate her heart.

Be her long lost brilliance of light.
