HOME SWEET home. Melody never imagined it would be a room about the size of her old living room and kitchen- with a bed, kitchenette, table, some chairs, and a decent ensuite. And she never thought it would be locked away in Shinra HQ. Melody felt numb. It was like she wasn't in her body anymore as she sat on the edge of the bed with her suitcase forgotten on the cold floor. She could feel the cruel shaking of her entire being, the deep breaths that make her chest heavy, and the panic rising. What was going to happen to her? What are her loved ones and friends going to think? Would they fight to find her? Or would she spend the rest of eternity kept away just so they would never have to suffer. No questions had been answered for her, she was thrown in this room and told to wait. Wait for what felt like an execution...

Her brain was working over time in its attempt to protect her with happier thoughts or erasing everything that just occurred. It was hard to think of anything good coming out of this- only her freedom being taken away and then maybe her life.

She was in Shinra. Never in her wildest dreams would she have thought to be in the belly of the beast- of the corporation she hated. Hated for what they did to her father. And hated for what they continue to do to their people. She's infuriated with herself and everything else that is. Melody wondered if her friends, coworkers would be disappointed in her even though she always lead their backs..

It felt like the walls are closing in around her. Her breathing would switch between heavy and then light and borderline hyperventilating. Tears began to well in her eyes; slowly falling down leaving streaks on her pink cheeks. This wasn't what she signed up for when she joined some fellow hackers six months ago per a friend. Finally, her head fell down into her hands as she began to sob as everything was hitting her full force. Melody felt broken as exhaustion and the truth of everything came rushing to her with no end in sight.

Sniffling she tried to wipe away all the massive amounts of tears that were still falling and blurring her vision. Her eyes must have been bloodshot red and her head was beginning to throb- it was painful and she kept internally cursing herself for crying because this always happened. Melody stood up and headed into the mysterious bathroom she had yet to see; so seeing herself in the big mirror made her choke up again. More sobs involuntarily slipped past her lips as she tried to clamp her hand over her mouth. This was well past overwhelmed.

In the mirror was an exhausted freshly twenty-one year old who was cursing her past decisions. Walking to the sink, her hands grip onto the granite counter and her gaze never broke away from her reflection. Melody couldn't help but criticize what she saw in the mirror because it didn't seem like her. How in mere short hours can everything change? What nightmare was this?

In hindsight she should have known better. But at the time she thought she was doing the right thing. Would she do it all again?

Taking a deep breath, Melody wanted to calm herself down, at the end of the day she was in enemy territory. As much as she wanted to dwell on questions and the past she knew she couldn't. Compartmentalizing was something she couldn't do, she could hardly control her wild emotions and act rationally. Moving on and not looking back... it was time to try to do that and eventually make a plan. Besides anyone could walk in at any moment and she looked like a mess.
