Chapter 28

"Because I can't stand being low to your Mom. God knows how much I love you, your Mom and Dubu. But can't face the three of you. I got scammed because of my greed. Your Mom has a nice job while me, I'm just a nobody, I got fired. I invested on scams. I loan a huge amount of money in exchange of my life."

"I worked extra jobs, part times, just to pay my debt. But, I always watch you from afar. I was there when you graduated in high school, I was there when Dubu graduated in elementary, I've never been absent on your birthday celebrations"

"But you never attend in my wedding"

"Daughter, that's the most precious event in your life. Pumunta ako, your Mom send me one of your invitations"

"I know, I was the one who gave her 2 invitations but I never tell her that was for you"

"I'm sorry. Sorry kasi hindi ako nagpakita sayo, I'm so ashamed and ayoko masira ang kasal mo dahil sakin. Tumakas lang ako sa site nung araw na yun kaya I didn't dressed well" My Dad said. I cried so much, I feel bad.

Flashback

"Kain tayo dito. Masarap daw stall na yan. Eh" Moon said.
Katatapos lang ng class and nagutom kami.

"Okay" I answered at sinundan siya.

"Dalawang serving ng Tofu stew and extra rice. Thank you" Moonbyul ordered.

"No. I'll take jajangmyeon" Sabi ko. The vendor just nod. Moon and I sat on the table

"This is the best tofu stew house near the school."
I hate tofu, it makes me remember my Dad. He always cook tofu stew when we are a kid, that's the reason why Dubu's favorite food is tofu.

The food served to us.
Sarap na sarap si Moonbyul sa stew na kinakain niya. I took a spoonful and taste it.

It was a familiar taste, but it was really spicy. Just like Dahyun's favorite.
But I can't stand the spicy taste of it. Tumayo ako at kumuha ng tubig. But I see a familiar back.

It looks like my Dad..
"Mr. Kim, another order of Tofu stew" My eyes widened when I saw his face.

It was really my Dad.

"Yes. Right away" he answered, his smile was bright but the eyes are tired.

Kupas na ang tshirt niya, namumuti na rin ang buhok niya, he is not as white as Dahyun anymore.

My tears fall on my cheeks. I ran outside. I can't bare to see my Dad like that.

I hide sa labas ng stall and wait until Dad leaves at work. I want to know who is his family now. Gusto ko malaman kung totoo bang pinagpalit niya kami sa ibang babae.

It was exactly 9pm.
"Mr. Kim, kunin nyo na po yan, sayang naman po kasi pang hapunan nyo narin po" The vendor handed a plastic bag to Dad.

"Nakakahiya man pero salamat Binnie. Alis nako ha"

Sinundan ko siya, we arrived at a apartment building.
I though he will walk inside but

"Magandang gabi, sorry nalate ako.." Dad said at the guard. The guard looked annoyed

"Bilis bilisan mo ah. Overtime na ako. Marereport na kita kay Boss eh"

"Pasensya kana.. kagagaling ko lang sa isa kong trabaho"

"Psh.. Ano yan? Hah. Nagdala kapa nyan, sige kukunin ko na. Masarap ba to? Salamat ah" The guard. Kinuha niya ang pagkain sa kamay ni Papa saka lumabas ng guard house. Dad fixed his hair and sat.

He still didn't eat.

I was going to leave. Mom's gonna kill me right now.
I go to the nearest convenient store and buy foods for him like boiled egg, rice meal, breads, milk and water and some candies.

Pagbalik ko dun, I saw him dozing off kaya I take the opprtunity to left the plastic bag on his desk and leave a letter saying "Eat some Uncle. :)" 
I knocked the glass window and run.

"San ka galing?! Bakit ngayon ka lang umuwi? Alam mo ba kung anong oras na?!" Mom.
I hugged her and cried. I feel so bad for the both of them.

"Yah. Yongsun, anong nangyayari sayo? May nangyari na sayo?"

"I love you Mom" i whispered at her ear

"Ano nangyayari dito? Bakit may yakapang nagaganap?" 8 years old Dahyun. Mom pulled her and niyakap na rin.

"Come back to us. We are your Family" I said to him. He immedietly look at me direct in the eyes.

"But, Hindi pa ako nakakabayad--"

"Dad, for God's sake. I can pay that debt for you. All I'm asking is come back to your family"

"Yongsun, wag na wag mong gagawin yun. I can pay it. It's my debt"

"Then come back to us"

"I wanted to but, I-I have a son"
