Riva Garcia

All my life, I followed what my parents wanted me to be and to do. I became an obedient daughter to them. I made them proud of me. I became a top student in my school; I graduated with flying colors; I became a licensed lawyer; and I gave them a wealthy life.

I'm just thinking, when will be the time that I will think first my own sake? When will be the time that I can do what I want? When will be the time that I will think for my own happiness?

Life is so cruel.

Life's giving me my last shot to live, and I'm living it with my last wish.

Wearing my hoodie jacket and my pajamas, I went out of my room. I made sure na wala akong magagawang ingay para hindi sila magising. Lumabas ako at naghintay ng masasakyan.

It's already midnight. Mayroon naman siguro akong masasakyan. And I am right, may dumaang taxi. I didn't waste any moment and I quickly ride on the cab.

I told the driver. I let the car's window open. The cold breeze starts to envelope my face... and I like it.

So refreshing.

Hinayaan ko lang ang malamig na hangin na sumampal ss mukha ko and I start humming the tune of my favorite song.

Invisible by Hunter Hayes.

My silence was disturbed when the driver approached me, saying that we already reached the department store. I told the driver to wait for me. May pupuntahan pa ako. Luckily, pumayag naman siya. Pumasok ako sa loob and a soft music welcomed me. I heaved a sigh before I roam inside.

Chocolates, crackers, ice cream, chips, biscuits, and drinks.

I forgot something.

Bumalik ako at kinuha iyon. My smile starts to get wider as I touched it. Ngayon na lang 'to, it is much better if I'll enjoy it, without thinking anything... just my happiness... just my own sake... just for now.

I waited for them to put it in a plastic bag. I smiled when I saw my pale face.

Nice.

"Okay lang po kayo ma'am?" Napatingin naman ako sa cashier. I smiled to her before I answered.

"Thank you."

I told the driver my next destination and he responded immediately. While I'm on my ride, I received a text coming from my parents, asking where I am.
