Hey! I got this idea while listening to the "Wait for Me (Reprise)". Basically its Sanders Sides, with Logan as Eurydice, Virgil as Orpheus, Roman as Hades, and Patton as Persephone. Thomas is Hermes, coaching Virgil through the roads of Hadestown.

Ships: Analogical and Royality

TW: Its sad. Like, really, really sad.

Virgil stood just outside of the black gates, the damning bars of Stygian iron that separated him from Logan. A shimmering form floated by him, eyes narrowed and determined. "The meanest dog you'll ever meet... He ain't the hound dog in the street. He bares some teeth and tears some skin, but brother that's the worst of him." Thomas laid a smoky hand on Virgil's shoulder, pushing him away from the gates. "Turn around and walk," he instructed. "The dog you really got to dread is the one that howls inside your head. It's him who's howling drives men mad, and a man to his undoing." Thomas continued, steadying Virgil's shaky walk. Virgil reached out to Logan the only way he was allowed. "Wait for me... I'm coming. Wait, I'm coming with you." He sang to his partner, new hope blossoming in his chest when Logan sang back to him. "Wait for me... I'm coming too, I'm coming too." Virgil led his husband through the rocky, stifling roads of Hadestown. There were spires of rock hanging from the roof of the cave-like ruin they were in, but Virgil didn't want to pay attention to them, mainly because he was positive something had moved up there.

"Show the way so we can see... Show the way the world could be. If you can do it, so can he If he can do it, so can we." Virgil ignored the restless chattering of the workers, but he could tell Logan was effected. "Show the way!" they continued to call.

"Show the way the world can be. Show the way so we believe. We will follow where you lead, we will follow if you show the way!" The workers continued to chant, pausing in their labors to watch.

Patton observed the mass pause in the workers movements, but wasn't particularly worried. What he was worried for was Logan and Virgil. Virgil had been very brave on behalf of Logan, possibly bordering on dangerous hot-headedness, but he appreciated the depth of their love. And Logan, well... Once the spirit separated from the body, it was unwilling to go back. It would be hard for him to feel normal again.

Patton turned to the King of Hadestown. Roman had his back to him. "Think they'll make it?" Patton asked softly. "I don't know." He responded softly. "Roman, you let them go."

"I let them try."

Patton tried to restrain himself, but as always in times like these, the words just fell out of his mouth. "And what about you and I? Are we going to try again?" Roman turned towards Patton, a strange wistfulness in his eyes. "It's time for spring. We'll try again next fall." The blond haired god took Roman's hand.

"Wait for me?"

"I will."

"Wait for me, I'm coming. Wait, I'm coming with you. Wait for me, I'm coming too. I'm coming too."

Virgil was careful not to look behind him. That was the only restriction Roman had given him, and he didn't want to break it. "Who are you?" a voice said in his ear. Virgil jumped back more than he'd ever done in his life. "Who do you think you are?" another voice said. Virgil couldn't see them, all he knew was that he was meeting something older than the Gods themselves, older than the Titans and all living things. He could feel the heavy weight of the air, pressing down on him, showing him just how insignificant he was to the universe. Then he understood what this situation was. "Who are you? Who are you to lead her?" The three Fates stood in front of him, blocking his path. "Who are you to lead them?" One asked, knowing this would severely compromise him on his journey. "Who are you to think that you can hold your head up higher than your fellow men?" Virgil started to doubt himself. Then he doubted Roman. What if the God had just been playing a trick on him? What if Logan wasn't behind him? Satisfied, the Fates left. They had done their job.

"You got a lonesome road to walk, and it ain't along the railroad track, and it ain't along the blacktop tar you've walked a hundred miles before." Thomas spoke quickly, as if trying to get his point out as quickly as possible. "I'll tell you where the real road lies. In between your ears, behind your eyes. That's the road to paradise, and likewise, the road to ruin." Virgil felt like he was being warned, but he was too consumed with doubt to actually think about the words. He heard Thomas sigh very quietly.

"Wait for me, I'm coming! I'm coming! Wait for me, I'm coming with you! Wait for me, I'm coming too. Wait for me, I'm coming. Wait, i'm coming with you. Wait, I'm coming.... Show the way!" The workers chanted louder than ever, and Virgil couldn't hear his own breathing anymore, and he wanted it to stop he wanted Logan to be with him he wanted to get out and get away.

"I'm coming, wait for me! I hear the walls repeating. The falling of our feet, and it sounds like drumming. And we are not alone, I hear the rocks and stones. Echoing our song..." Virgil could hear Logan's voice, clearly cutting through all the noise. Was he behind him, or somewhere else? Was Roman just making it seem Like Logan was behind him? Virgil had to see him, he had to know that Logan was okay, he couldn't take it. "Virgil, please. Just wait", Thomas murmured "The exit is right there, see? there's sunlight, just hold on a moment longer." There was anguish in Thomas's voice. Virgil was almost there. He just had to keep walking! His resolve shook. Then his willpower crumbled. As he lost control, Virgil understood Thomas's warning. He'd let his thoughts get to him, and now he was going to suffer because of it.

"I'm coming!" Virgil heard Logan's triumphant yell, and desperately wanted to turn back time and not do what he'd just done. But Virgil turned around too early, and now it was all over. Logan was within arms reach, just barely out of the sunlight. His glasses gleamed, but behind them, his eyes were pools of darkness. First he was shocked, then grief crossed his face. Virgil paled, seeing the face of the man he loved so much. A face he wouldn't get to see until he died. Logan smiled very softly. "I love you, Virgil. I will always love you." Virgil's hands started to shake. "No. No no, please, Logan I'm sorry I didn't mean to turn around! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Tears streaked down Virgil's face. He knew there was no getting Logan back this time. He would be gone for good. "I know, Virgil. I know you didn't mean to. I understand." Logan's voice shook, betraying how much he was hurting. "I'll wait for you, Stormcloud. I'll be here. I love you." Then, quicker than Virgil could blink, he was gone. Logan was gone... It hit him like a truck. Virgil hadn't once said 'I love you' back... Virgil looked around. Thomas was gone. The workers were gone. He was alone. He had failed.

He had failed.
