It was quite late at night. Dave looked down at his watch. 12:54 AM, he swore that Jack would be heading to bed soon. As he approached the other's house, however, a unfamiliar light was illuminating from his bedroom window.

"Huh... wonder what he's up to this late in the night." Dave continued, his feet gracefully striding towards the way he usually is able to sneak into his co-worker's house. He managed to enter, as he always does. As he starts walking through the house, he hears a voice. Was it Jack? This voice was singing a song. Dave's heart skipped a beat, he's never heard Jack sing before. Even out of all the times he decided to stop by to shower, grab a snack, or whatever reason he felt the need to break and enter into his best friend's house... he's never encountered this.

Jack is aware that he stops by sometimes, Dave had to fess up to it recently. Dave stopped coming as often so he wouldn't get caught if he was doing anything other than using his shower.

Dave decided to quietly head closer to Jack's bedroom, slowly making his way up the stairs. He was able to identify the song he was singing. Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars... Dave liked that song, it accurately represents how he feels about his Old Sport. A nice, upbeat love song... Jack was singing. Dave froze. He started thinking to himself.

"Love... a love song. To who? I mean if it was me, I'd be singin' about you, Jack... but I've been doubtin' that you feel the same way." Dave sighed, feeling ashamed for how he felt. He thought if he ever confessed his feelings to Jack, he'd never talk to him again.

Dave shook his head, trying to empty his brain of those negative thoughts. He continued to listen to Jack's wonderful voice. Jack had a deep, crisp, but soft singing voice.

The ending of the song was drawing near. Dave felt his heart melt when he heard him sing the beginning of the chorus over again.

"When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change. 'Cause you're amazing..."

Dave decided to quietly sing along, sitting at the top of the stairs, leaning against the wall.

"...Just the way you are. And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while-"

Dave's soft singing was cut off by the lyrical change that Jack sung.

"...'Cause, Dave, you're amazing just the way you are."

Dave's heart started pounding. His face heated up. He was astonished, suddenly hopeful about his feelings for his best friend. He giggled lightly to himself, and swiftly, but quietly, made his way down the stairs. He knew what he was going to do tomorrow morning. It may be a day off of work, but he's definitely making a trip to see one of his co-workers.

--- Timeskip: That next morning... ---

Jack was up around 10:00 AM, pouring himself a bowl of cereal. As he put away the box of cereal and gallon of milk, he heard a knock at the door. He immediately headed towards it, unlocks it, twists the knob and pulls the door open.

"Oh, hey Dave! What are you doing here, homie?" Jack smiled kindly at the taller figure.

"Hi, old sport! I uh, just wanted to stop by and possibly hang around and chat!" Dave chuckled, hopefully not sounding nervous.

Jack grinned, "Oh yeah, of course! I just woke up about a half an hour ago... so I'm sorry that I'm still lounging around in my pajamas, aha."

"No, you're fine, Sportsy! I don't mind." Dave smiled lovingly at him, noticing he still had some slight bed-head going on. He thought to himself, "Ha, how cute!"

Jack welcomed his friend inside. He was more than happy that Dave came by on his own to just have some genuine time together. While he always wanted Dave to just scoop him up and cuddle the hell out of him on his couch, he assumed he'd never feel the same way he did.

"Hey, Jack, I actually have somethin' important I want to talk to you about." Dave rarely ever referred to his crush with his real name, but he felt like he needed to sound more serious.

Jack nodded, suddenly getting a little nervous. He managed to speak up with a simple response. "Yeah, what's up Davey?"

Dave sighed, his nerves boiling up... but he knew it couldn't end too bad. He now knew that he felt the same, he needed to finally get this off his chest without being filled with dread.

"So, last night I decided to stop by to uh, grab a snack." He coughed lightly, clearing his throat. "I couldn't help but hear you singin' a tune up there."

Jack froze, immediately becoming flustered. "O-Oh, you uh... heard me singing? Ah, I'm not too great at it at all..."

Dave chimed in, "What do you mean, Sportsy? You're voice sounds gorgeous!"

The orange man's face heated up. "Aha, thanks, Dave. That means a lot." He put on a nervous smile. Thoughts raced through his head, "Did Dave hear what I said last night while singing? Oh god, please don't be putting me in the friend-zone.."

"I heard what you said, and I..." Dave tensed up, letting out a shaky sigh, and finally decided to go all out with his confession. "I want to let ya know that I feel the same about you, Jack."

Jack's eyes widened with excitement. "Y-You do? You l... You really mean that? Dave you... you love me??" A wide smile covered his entire face.

"Of course, old sport! I do, I love you a lot." Dave grinned and grabbed Jack in for a big ol' hug.

They stayed intertwined in their embrace. The two men held each other for what felt like hours. Many hours of love and care.

Dave pulled away from Jack eventually, looking down at him. "I really really love ya. You're amazin'."

Jack smiled and raised one hand to caress the purple man's face. "I really love you, too, Dave. You're so, so amazing..."

They both hugged once again, and soon enough, Dave picked up Jack, bridal style, and they both laid down on the couch, cuddling together for the majority of their day together.
