"ANNE" gilbert yelled after her. by the time he reached the roof top, he was a panting mess. he saw anne looking over the edge of the roof and immediately rushed to her side. "anne don't" he breathed out. "what? no, no no. i wasn't going to....jump. if that's what you thought i was going to do." she turned to him, looking more devastated than he'd even seen her before. "what josh did was really shitty of him.." gilbert said as he started to catch his breath back"i can't believe him. i thought he actually liked me, maybe he really wanted to be with valery this whole time"
"WHERE DOES THIS PUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM AT?" gilbert looked up at her just as he walked over to the fire pit. (obviously josie has a fire pit smh). "i guess we're broken up? i don't know. i love him but i guess he doesn't love me.." anne trailed off. for some reason it hurt gilbert to hear anne say that she loved joshua even though they weren't together. he was dating ruby but he wasn't exactly happy. "what about you" anne sat down across from him. "what about me?" gilbert asked confused. "what about you and ruby. i know that you saw her crying and leaving but you still didn't go after her. but here you are with me" anne chuckled, "when im with ruby...she never stops...talking? i guess i just wanted to have some quiet time" gilbert started to pick his fingers after a while of them sitting in silence. "you know it's not true right?" he looked back up at her. "what's not true?" anne asked, knowing exactly what he was talking about. "what valery said...we never did that" gilbert stood up and walked back over to the ledge. "i don't care what you do and don't do..." anne stood up after him and sat down on the edge. "let's make a deal" gilbert blurted out. "about what?"
"LET'S SEE IF LOVE IS REAL" gilbert said simply. "okay" anne smiled. she was surprised at how quickly she agreed with him, she wanted to believe that it was the alcohol but she knew that she'd do anything for him. "okay, now let's play some mini golf" gilbert laughed as they started to get up. "what's so funny" anne joined in with him. "just that, i'd never imagine the day where i'd be playing mini golf with anne shirley"
"CUTHBERT. ANNE SHIRLEY CUTHBERT" the pair played mini golf for hours until they eventually decided to find a room downstairs and stay at josie's for the night.
