My Unexpected Love

Chapter 16: Debate

Shanie Eliza  Ramirez (POV)

"Okay class, the first team to have a debate today is Ms. Ramirez's team and Mr. Imperial's team. And our motion for today is This House Believes that it is better to love a person who loves you than to love someone who can't love you back."

"Wwwwoaaaaah!" sigaw ng mga classmates ko.

"Okay.. Let's start."

Actually kanina pang first period nabigay yung motion namin. Nakapaghanda na din kami. Napunta nga kami sa opposition side eh. Ibig sabihin nun, disagree kami sa motion. Sila Kevin naman yung government. Agree sila sa motion. Ako nga yung Deputy Leader of the opposition.

"Let's start with the Prime Minister. Mr. Kim?"

"Good afternoon dear adjudicator, everyone. Being the prime minister, I am to explain the first argument which is feeling, while my deputy prime minister will elaborate more on the other two arguments which are time and... *Blah blah blah*"

Natapos magsalita mga ang dalawang leader. So turn na ni Kevin as the Deputy Prime minister. Tumayo siya at kumindat muna sakin bago nagsimulang magsalita. Tss..  Loko talaga!

"Okay Ms. Adjudicator... We on the government side want to prove that the motion is true. So Loving a person who loves you. Who would not want that? I myself believe that it is better to love a person who loves you because of the following reasons. First, happiness. Who would be happy if the person they love would not love them back right? Let's just give filial love as an example. In our family... If a person is being neglected by their own parents he or she will be hurt and will be depressed. It will affect his or her lifestyle. Filial love is the best example for this one. A child who is not loved by the parents will be hurt and suffer problems. So in romantic love, admit ir or not we are being hurt if our love towards a person is not reciprocated right? So why would you choose to love that person if he or she doesn't even notice your feelings and doen't even appreciate it? If you choose that person then your life will just be painful, waiting for something that will hurt you. How can you be happy?"

Wow. Impressive. Nag woooooh yung mga kaklase namin and I must say kung audience din ako, I would agree to his explanation. Magaling pala siya sa ganun. I didn't know.

"Second. Time. Waiting for something impossible to happen is quite a waste of time. If that person can't love you back, might as well try to love the person who loves you. He or she is waiting out there. At least it will be easier to move on because the person who loves you will try their hardest to help you forget about the person who hurt your feelings. That's all ma'am. I rest my case."

Oh my gosh! Kahit hindi niya masyadong naexplain yung dulong part ay naintindihan ko pa din yung point niya. Pero I will not let them win. I have to win this thing, naexperience ko na kaya yun! Huh. If I know may pinaghuhugutan si Kevin. Hahaha! Maasar nga siya mamaya.

"Good afternoon everyone. First I will rebut what the deputy prime minister said a while ago. Being loved by a person who doesn't love you is not impossible. As they say, patience is a virtue. Next is he said that he or she doesn't even notice the feelings? If you say those feelings then there will be no problem noticing it right? Okay. So for the opposition side we disagree with the motion. First, why would we stop loving if there's still a chance. There is always a chance! It is not wasting time waiting for our love to be reciprocated. It is patience, if we just wait patiently then things will turn out right. Second, if we don't love the person who loves us then don't make them hope for more. Let them find a person he or she deserves. That's all ma'am."

Tinapos ko agad yung speech ko kasi kinakabahan ako! Ang bilis ng tibok ng puso ko. Tapos lalo pang bumilis nung nakita ko sa periphiral vision ko si Kevin na nakatitig lang sakin. Shocks.. Matatalo kami nito! Masyado akong kinabahan! Bakit ba kasi yung puso ko naghyperventilate eh! Kainis!!!

Natapos yung debate at winner sila Kevin. Syempre naman kung titignan mo kasi mabuti at iaanalyze mo, pabor sa kanila yung motion. Haaysss. Bakit kasi masyado siyang hugot eh. Natalo tuloy kami! Pero okay lang at least na enjoy ko yung debate at nalaman ko na there's more than what Kevin is. Marami pa akong hindi alam sa kanya and that debate made me want to know him more.

Hindi ko na nakita si Dan ngayong araw. Maaga daw kasi flight nila kaya nagtext na lang siya sakin na nasa airport na siya. Sana maging safe yung biyahe nila tapos sana makabalik siya agad.

Kakatapos ko lang magsayaw ngayon. Busy ako sa pagpunas ng pawis ko tapos biglang dumating si Kevin. Nakapang practice na siya.

Nilapag niya yung bag niya sa sahig tapos nagwarm up siya. Habang pinapanuod ko siya... OMG... Huwag kang matemp Shanie! Oooh... Yung biceps! Ay... Putek.

Naglaro na lang ako sa iPad ko para mabaling sa iba yung atensyon ko. Kaya lang di pa ako nadedead sa temple run nagsimula na siyang magsayaw! Hala ka. Yan nanaman po yung mga butterflies sa tiyan ko. Hindi ko na keribels kaya lumabas na ako ng studio at nagpahangin sa labas. Ang INIT eh!

"Huy, bakit ka lumabas?" ay sumunod pala siya sakin.

"Wala, magpapahangin lang kasi mainit sa loob. Kakatapos ko lang sumayaw."

"Ah. Samahan na kita."

Tumabi siya sakin sa pagkakaupo ko sa bench. Nga pala, nasabi ko na ba na gabi na at wala nang tao sa school? Syempre may mga janitor at guards pa, pero yung nga studyante? Kami na lang ni Kevin.

"Saan nga pala nanggaling yung mga sinabi mo kanina sa debate? Hugot ka ha?" tanong ko

"Ah wala yun. Totoo naman kasi diba? Example. Kung mahal kita tapos mahal mo siya pero di ka niya mahal eh dapat mas piliin mo ako. Kasi sakin, mas mapapasaya kita at alam mong hindi kita lolokohin kasi ikaw ang mahal ko." tapos ngumiti siya.

"Ah ganun ba? Eh sino naman yung inspiration mo diyan sa mga sinasabi mo?"

"Hmm.. Sabihin na lang natin na masungit na babae. Tapos lagi akong inaaway nung unang araw ko dito."

Kevin... Stop smiling please. Hindi ko alam pero parang hinihika ako.. Hindi ako makahinga ng maayos... Ah wae?

"May nang-aaway pa pala sayo? Kala ko kasi ikaw lang ang nang-aaway eh."

"Ako ba? Eh ikaw nga tong masunget sakin at bully."

"Ako? Bakit ako? Inaaway kita?"

"Oo. Ikaw LANG ang nang away sakin."

"Ako lang?"

Ako? Ako nang-aaway?

"Tss.. Ano ba yan! Sobrang slow mo naman... Hindi mo ba magets?"

Huh? Ano daw? Ang gulo niya ha! Hindi ko gets ang alin? Baliw yata to eh, kung ano ano sinasabi? Tsk tsk...
