9 - Awkward Lunch

"What the hell happened to the both of you?" I yelled at Carl and Garth after our first class who have bruises on their faces. Garth has a bandage on his left cheekbone while Carl has a small bandage on the bridge of his nose.

How they were able to pull it off and make it look good with them, I have no idea.

No one answered and I couldn't help but think that this has something to do with Carl asking me out. I have noticed earlier how both of them didn't acknowledge each other at class. I thought it was only Kevin who was mad at Carl. Now Garth? Maybe Garth was on Kevin's side. Why? What's the big deal if Carl asked me out? We are both single!

Wait. What if Cheska is right? What if Kevin likes me?

Oh God! I hope not. I will lose my best friend. Carl will lose his best friend. And it would be just hard and awkward.

They both avoided to look each other and me.

"So?"

"Don't worry Kat it's nothing. We had a fight with some Junior guys." Carl explained. I nodded but I don't buy it.

"I was wondering... Are you availble tonight? We could have a dinner and watch movie. Whatever you like." Carl added

Oh. Our date. It's really happening. Eeeeeeeeeee!

"Can we have both?" I asked sweetly.

He smiled at me. "Of course. I'll pick you at 6."

I smiled at him and when I looked around I saw that some students were looking at us.

That's also when I noticed that Garth has already left.

Students were staring at us as Carl and I were going to the canteen. Cheska has still some things to do. I know some were excited because they have been shipping us since last year. But we never dated - not until now. I smiled at a few of them shyly.

I feel Carl stiffened beside me. I looked at him and I followed where he was looking and I scowled.

Kevin, Garth and David were already on our table laughing. And a girl was sitting on Garth's lap.

Their back was on us and I walked to our table angrily. Carl followed me. Garth could flirt all he wants but not on our table! Not when we were about to eat lunch! We continued walking to our table and I was about to yell at Garth when I realized who the girl is. Why Carl stiffened.

It's Sophie - Carl's longtime crush.

I stopped on my track and I couldn't help but check her appearance. Her pale skin complimented her blonde wavy hair. And her hazel eyes really suits her. She's a cheerleader but I talked to her once, she seemed nice. It was me who avoided her because I knew Carl liked her.

I sighed softly. Just looking at her made me small and ugly. I looked at Garth and I saw him smirking. He did this on purpose. Just when things were going well with Carl and I, he would do this. I took it back when I've been concerned with him and Carl about their bruises. Selfish bastard!

Carl put his hand on my back lightly and I realized I've been standing on our table for quite some time. I looked around and everyone was looking at our table. It was no secret that Carl liked her. They never dated though. I didn't know why.

I forced myself to sit and smile at Sophie. Carl sat beside me and smiled at her too. He tucked a few strands of my hair on my ear before leaning to whisper at me, "Are you okay?'

I nodded and smiled at him. "You?" He nodded.

"What the fucking hell is going on?"

Oh no. I don't have to see who said that.

When we were on first year, the boys asked if they could sit with us on lunch. We both agreed as long as they won't bring who they were screwing at our table. And seeing from Cheska's reaction right now, I know she's mad. And you wouldn't like her when her bitch button is on.

Well, who would want to eat lunch when someone is making out in front of you?

She sat on my side which made me in between Carl and her. She looked around at our table and her gaze locked with Sophie. I looked at her trying to send her a message not to cause a scene and smiled. She rolled her eyes at me.

I mean we could not make it a big deal. Garth just brought a girl on our table who just happened to be Carl's crush and Carl just happened to date me now. And she's just sitting on Garth's lap when there's available seat. And everyone's just looking at us. Sure, it's no big deal.

"So, Sophie, are you fucking Garth now?' Cheska insulted and I just wanna seal my best friend's mouth. I hate confrontations. And I don't want to make this bigger. Uggh, it was all Garth's fault.

"Not yet. Maybe later." Sophie answered instantly.

Garth and Kevin chuckled. I just noticed that Kevin has a cut on his lower lips. But given the situation we're in now, I just ignored it.

"For sure, when they were having sex Garth wouldn't know that his dick has already entered her." Cheska said softly making sure that I was the only one who heard her and I laughed so hard.

Sophie joined the cheerleader team last year and we heard that she's been sleeping around with some football players. We didn't really know what happened before. She was not like that. And maybe that's why Carl didn't pursued her. She changed.

"So Carl, have you moved on with me?" Sophie asked sweetly and I tensed.

She said what?

"Just shut up Sophie." Carl snapped at her.

I exhaled deeply to control my temper. I never knew that she has changed a lot.

Carl may sensed my discomfort because he whispered at me, "Just don't mind her." He smiled at me and I smiled back.

"Ohhh! Aren't they sweet Sophie? But I know you never dated because you're busy." Cheska said and I sighed. I know she's up for something.

"Yeah. A year in the team and I was already chosen as the captain of the cheerleading squad. It's a lot of pressure. Unlike you, who's busy planning and oragnizing for school. I think it's boring."

If I were here I would shut up.

Cheska rolled her eyes. "Actually I didn't mean about your squad."

"So, what did you mean?"

"I know you're busy. Busy choosing who to fuck next." Cheska said while examining her fingers trying to look bored.

I tried myself not to laugh especially after seeing Sophie's reaction.

David cleared his throat. "Okay guys. How about we order lunch?"

I know this will be a long and awkward lunch. Thanks to freaking Garth.

I will be updating in 3 days or maybe early next week. Depending on how strong the Super Typhoon Ruby is. Our internet may be lost or our electricity. But I'm hoping that everything will be okay.

Yes we're expecting another typhoon and it's being compared to Typhoon Haiyan. Please pray for the Philippines.
