Jamie's POV
"Ah,get some things ready,we need to leave now." I said to my younger brother Nick who was just putting books in his backpack.
"I said I am coming. Can't you see that I am already doing that?"he responded, rudely.
"What?"I asked, surprised that he was talking back to me that way.
I rushed over to him and pulled him by the ear.
"Ah,I'm sorry,I'm sorry"He apologized, trying to free himself from my firm grip.
"Are you really sorry? Are you sure you won't talk to me that way next time." I asked.
He nodded.
After much conviction,I let him go. I laughed at his childishness although he was 18.Nick was never gonna change and I love him for that.
I just hope he finds love and doesn't end up like me a hopeless romantic.
I felt a bit disturbed and thoughts suddenly flooded by memory.Tired of everything,I spilled out my mind.
"Arghhh!I hate this,I hate my life.If I don't find love,I will become a nun,I promise."I cussed out,scattering the clothes,I had previously packed.
"Jamie!"Nick called out to me taken aback by my action.
I gulped down feeling sad.
"Jamie, darling, why are you all worked up?"Mum asked, worried leaving the bag,she had packed. She came to sit next to me.
I looked up to her and replied,"It's just that I am tired of everything,I'm tired of life and I hate my life,Mom."
Mom frowned then waited patiently for what I had to say.
I continued, "It's so hard having to see other girls my age have boyfriends and—I have Zero experience in dating. It's so frustrating."
Mum chuckled then faced me,"Jamie, look at me,just raise your head and take a look at me.
When I was your age,I was just likeyou, young, vibrant and beautiful. All of my classmates and boyfriends but I didn't have anyone to call my boyfriend. It became a cause of worry to me and I always cried myself to sleep.Every morning, when I woke up,I made sure that I dolled myself up with makeup just to look more attractive and maybe someone, someone would take a look at me but it was all effortless. After,I did that for a year and nothing changed,I sat myself down one day and took some time to think about my life and where I was headed. At first,I didn't realise it but then one day,I realised that having a boyfriend at that time wasn't a priority at that moment."
She paused, took a deep breath and continued,"Boys were more than enough in the world and if I pushed myself just to satisfy my desires,I won't enjoy what I wanted and it might not even last for long.I might get heart broken for a long time, have emotional problems or end up being depressed. And besides,Love is all about dramas and I knew i wasn't ready to start thinking or taking care of someone when I was still living under my parents roof.So I came to a decision, not to trouble myself anymore over that issue anymore and wait patiently for the right time." Mom continued, "So Jamie, you don't have to experience love to know if someone truly loves you and if someone truly loves you,you would feel it in your heart. And when someone does, you would feel it,I promise."
Mom ended her lessons with a smile.
"Thanks Mom,I love you"I replied and gave her a hug, "And I mean it."
Mom looked at me with a wide smile on her lips and said,"I love you too Jamie."
I didn't expect mum's words to console me at this point of time but the most confusing words gave me comfort.

"Jamie!Come and see this."Nick called me from the corner of his room."My results for the exams are out."
"Really?"I asked, getting ready to run to his room.
"Yes,"He screamed back at me.
"What?"I reacted, taking a peek at my brother through my glasses."Did you pass?"
I waited for his response and watched as he clicked the link to the site.
"Yes,I passed."he screamed,jumping directly on my body.
"Really,"I asked, trying to comprehend what he said, for myself.
Nick nodded.
"That means I owe you a treat?"I asked.
"Really,"he asked in excitement after he heard what I had promised him.
"Yes,you did well,so I guess I owe you a treat."I repeated, feeling a smile spread across my face. But before I could say anything more,Nick spoke up.
"Thank you"he squealed in excitement, pulling me into his arms for another hug.

-At the Restaurant-
We arrived at the restaurant and sat on our designated seats. The waiter served our meals and we began to eat as we were served.
"Aww,you eat so well,good boy." I praised,giving a pat on my brother's back.
"Eat a lot okay."I persuaded, adding some more chunks of chicken
into his plate."I'm the best sister, right?"I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"Yes,you are." Nick giggled in happiness as he continued eating.
He suddenly looked up at me and asked me.
"Jamie,Can I ask you a question?"he asked.
I nodded.
"Yeah,"
"It's not really a question though."he said."It's more like a request."
I nodded, urging him to go on.
"Could you really stop worrying about having a boyfriend.I really don't like seeing you this way.I really want you to be happy and live happily."he said.
I nodded.
"Thank you,I promise you that I won't get worried about anything."I appreciated."Come here,let me give you a hug."I said,pulling him in for a hug.
"Let's continue eating."I said,smiling at him.
I stared outside the window and sighted my high school friend.
"Allison!"I called out to her.
She didn't look at me.I waved to her and finally, her eyes landed on mine.
"Hey, Jamie!"she called out to me as she said as she started waving back at me.
"What are you doing here?"I asked,as she sat next to me.
"I came for a blind date,my mum set me up with a conglomerate son."she said excitedly."Trust me,I'm not interested."
"Wow,you are lucky."I mused,"At least you are on a blind date, but I haven't been on one before or dreamt of having one."
"Don't worry, you'll find love soon."she assured me.
