Chapter 1 : Battle of Scarlet Shadow

It all started on the Battle of Scarlet Shadow. War that lasted for years. Factions of ninjas fought each other for supremacy. Each clan had their best warriors but there has been no true victory. Thousands of lives taken, villages turned to ash and rivers colored with blood.

Despite the loses on both sides, Hanzo head of the Shadow clan didn't consider to withdraw. Using his powerful sword, Ame no Habakiri, he resurrected his fallen soldiers. They weren't the same soldiers as they were years ago. They're now stronger and demonic in nature.

Learning about what Hanzo did, the Scarlet clan sent their best warriors to a mission. Kill Hanzo and stop the war. But Hanzo seems undefeated. The matriarch of the Scarlet clan prayed an surrendered herself to the Gods in exchange of peace in the land.

"I call upon the Gods of the ancient world. Hear me! My people have suffered enough from the hands of a tyrant. Take me!..... save my people from suffering and darkness!"

A massive burst of light from the heavens poured down into the battlefield banishing the darkness of the resurrected soldiers. Hanzo quickly grabbed his sword and rushed towards the bursting light. He aims to kill whoever is behind it, but he failed.

As he was about to slash his poweful sword into the entity, he was thrown away and cuffed with vines from the ground. The light entity was too powerful for Hanzo but he never considered defeat just yet. He gestured his hands, casting an ancient spell to counter the light.

Dark smoke covered Hanzo's body weathering the soil and killed the vines. Freed from the light's hold, he summoned Ame no Habakiri and struck it to the ground. The sword released a blood red light, blinding everyone on the battlefield. The light entity disappeared. As a ninja himself, Hanzo mastered different ninjutsu techiniques. Using his sword, he slaughtered thousands of soldiers without hesitation. Both Scarlet and Shadow ninjas fell on their knees and died.

He killed everyone on his way until he reached the Lotus Shrine. Without enough ninjas to protect the shrine, Hanzo was able to penetrate the walls and killed every single teacher, master and child in his path.

He aimed to be in this place for ages. This lead him to start the war so he could obtain the Scarlet Lotus. A powerful gem that is under the Scarlet clan's protection. The legends say that the Scarlet Lotus has the power to control people's mind and that's what Hanzo wants to achieve. He aims to rule the Eastern region and proclaim himself as king of all kings.

As he was about to touch the gem, daggers and blades hit him from the back. He turned around and there he saw two young ninjas - Hanabi and Hayabusa. The two were among the top ranking students of the shrine and the only ninjas left to protect the gem.

They battled against Hanzo. Two young ninjas who sworn to protect their clan's sacred gem. At a young age, Hayabusa have mastered a number of jutsu techniques while Hanabi have been a master of the scarlet ninja techniques. The two struggled to fight Hanzo. He was too powerful for them but they never backed down.

Deep wounds and cuts pinned down Hayabusa and Hanabi in the ground. Now unable to fight, he held his daggers and closed his eyes. It seemed like a peaceful surrender for Hayabusa as Hanzo gestured to end the young ninja's life. But Hanabi's persistence didn't waiver. She stood up and grabbed one of the shrine's ancient weapon - Higanbana. No one has ever used the weapon since the first Scarlet Ninja.

She stood up with all her remaining energy and challenged Hanzo.

"fight me! It is my right to challenge you as fellow ninja... if I win ...."

"surely you won't ... I will kill you and every last ninja connected to the Scarlet Clan. This world will be mine!"

The two clashed. Stabs, slash and kicks everywhere. Hanabi boosted herself with her scarlet ninja techniques while Hanzo reinforced Ame no Habakiri with dark spells. The sword can't seem to keep with Hanabi's swift and agility, leaving Hanzo with severe wounds from the ancient weapon. Hanabi was about to blow the last hit but Hanzo disappeared.

Dark smoke circled around Hanabi. Hayabusa noticed that Hanabi was only fighting a Shadow and the real Hanzo is just in the other corner. Hayabusa crawled towards the altar and opened the chest and took the gem. He knows that they are on the loosing side but he took the risk and performed one final jutsu.

Using a shadow ninja technique, Hayabusa rushed towards Hanzo and stabbed him with multiple daggers in the chest. Hanabi fell into the ground with hundreds of wound from Hanzo's Ninjutsu Demon Feast.

"I will kill you and everyone in the Shadow Clan"

"you're too young ninja. I am Hanzo, the Akuma Ninja and no one can defeat me.... not even your Gods!"

With all his might, Hayabusa released the final blow, piercing through Hanzo's heart. It was no dagger but the Scarlet Lotus itself. Hanzo screamed in pain and Hayabusa fell into the ground, he seems lifeless now.

Struck into Hanzo's heart, the gem released a bright scarlet light as Hanzo scream in agony. The light is burning Hanzo. Hanabi crawled towards Hayabusa and held his hand. In her near death state, Hanabi reached for the sky with the ancient weapon on her hand and uttered...

"Higanbana"
