What defines you?
The desolate woods under the euphoric skies?
The dying colours in their menacing eyes?
The untamed fear in the midst of chaos?
That dramatic pattern of stars hidden amongst the clouds?
What are you?

When love touched you twice,
Did it take you to your heart?
Is it still there?

Were you singing your blues?
Is the melody still raw and hollow?
Does it still occupy your thoughts?

When the twilight hues enclasped your hands
As you breathed in the sweet scent of lies,
Were you suffocating from the inside?

Their wordless apologies tugged at your heartstrings
But the dark crimson roses cut open your scars.

When you were in too deep with
the shackles of misery tied around your throat,
Could you still  b r e a t h e?

Does the guilt still weigh you down
While you aimlessly amble into the woods?
Do you still dwell in that dreamy blur?
Do you desire to relive the moments while you're still vibrant and young?

Why do our minds cling to things our hearts want to let go of?
Why is it that time passes by but
You stay anchored to moments you don't find clarity in anymore,

Chained to the life you don't live anymore?
