She squeezed his hand and leaned in to place a kiss on his cheek. "I won't." His eyes still looked for confirmation on hers so she smiled. "Now tell me everything about yesterday."
The tension on Fra's shoulders disappeared as suddenly as they appeared and he began to blab about his encounter with Eli in full detail. That was until his mom shouted from downstairs.
"These clothes better be folded!"
Fra's eyes widened in fear. Odette also was startled as she looked at the untouched laundry basket. She quickly jumped from the bed and started working.
"Fold, Fra, fold!"
"Like my life depends on it."

Fra had just sat down for his family dinner, an actual family dinner tonight as even his dad got home in time, when his phone buzzed in his pocket. He looked at his mom who was distracted putting baby Isaiah in his chair. The coast was clear enough that he stole a glance at his phone.
He only had time to see the sender as his stomach clenched in expectation before his mom told him off.
"No phones at the dinner table." Was another of Mrs. Frasier rules.
He could have argued that replying would only have taken him a few seconds but he had already pushed his luck yesterday with the whole taking too long to do his chores thing, so he just put his phone back in his pocket.
After his mom said grace, dinner progressed in the same mess as it usually is. Isaiah either throws half of his food in the ground or thinks that Sarah's hair is more interesting than dinner, the girl blabs about whatever comes to her mind and is unable to shut up until Mrs. Frasier tells her off for not touching her food being too distracted with her unending monologue, while Mr. Frasier keeps quiet throughout the whole dinner until he is done with his food and excuses himself from the table to go to bed.
As soon as his dad got up from the table, Fra also stood up.
"Where do you think you're going?" His mom looked away from Sarah who had her captured in a very detailed account of her lunch period.
"I thought I could be excused earlier today, because I have some homework to do."
Mrs. Frasier narrowed her eyes at him, as if deciding if he was telling the truth. He was. Granted that that was not his priority, but the number one thing in his mind was replying to Don's text.
"I have already told you to stop leaving your homework to the last minute." Fra fought the will to roll his eyes. "You can leave but as soon as they are done with their food," she pointed at his siblings, "You have to come back to wash the dishes."
This time Fra couldn't contain the sigh. "Can't Sarah do it tonight?"
"She will help you dry and put everything back into place."
Sarah threw a murderous look his way that he just ignored. Quickly picking his and his dad's plate to put both of them in the kitchen's sink and was off to his room.
As soon as the door was closed, he opened Don's chat.
Don: Are you tired?
Don: Because you have been running through my mind all day.
Fra laughed out loud. This was too funny. However, he couldn't lie that his insides twirled a little. If it had been anyone else he would have just ignored the text, but Don could definitely pull that off.
Fra: How cheesy
Fra: What's next? R u gonna call me sugar now?
The reply came a few minutes later.
Don: Nah
Don: But just because I'm diabetic
Don: If we really want to be cheesy I can call you babe
Don: Or boo
Don: I think I like boo more
Fra: R u serious?
Don: Why?
Don: Do you hate it?
Fra: No
Fra: I'm asking about the diabetes
Don: Yep
Don: Type one
Don: With a daily shot of insulin and everything
Fra: Oh wow
Fra: that's tough
Don: Don't worry
Don: I just have to watch out
Don: But I can still eat candy ;)
"Dermot! The dishes!" His mom called from downstairs.
Fra: I would love to talk more but there is a
pile of dirty dishes waiting for me
Don: Sounds fun
Don: We can talk later, boo
Fra: Okay, I'm definitely not a fan of boo
Don: Lol
Don: that's fine
Don: We can think about something else
Fra smiled to himself thinking about how Don was now committing himself to talk to him later. They were making progress.
"Dermot!" If his mom called once more, he would be in trouble.
Fra: Gotta go
Fra: Later
Don: Later
