26. A Way In

"She pricked me... but it's out. I'm gonna go stock up on some supplies before we leave..."

She moved past thomas and I without a second glance and Gally took her place on the chair,

"Maybe you should talk to her..."

Thomas said,

"Yeah... I'll go after this things is out of me..."

It didnt take long for Teresa to finish with Gally and then I took my place on the chair,

"(Y/N) seems more upset then usual..."

She regarded coldly,

"Watch your tone, that's my girlfriend you're talking about traitor..."

I said, sure I was on edge thanks to the flare and because she was talking about (Y/N),

"Call me what you want Newt, but I chose what I did because I thought it was right."

"Yeah 'thought' being the key word..."

I scoffed,

She quickly finished up with me and I stood touching the back of my neck,

There was some blood but it wasnt much,

I hurried to the supplies at the back where (Y/N) was still looking through,

She had on a WICKED uniform, the colours red and black a mask and gun lay on the side table,

"You look prepared."

She turned at my voice but just shrugged and turned back to the box,

"Yeah well, if I'm going to rescue Minho and find some of that bliss shit for you-"

I sat on the table beside her gear,

"We are not making detours for me..."

She stopped, but she didnt turn to face me

"You and Thomas will get Minho out. I'm not going anywhere until I know that you're gonna be ok."

She told me finally facing me, I could see the pain and sadness in her eyes,

"Oh (Y/N)..."

She sighed and i stood to wrap her in a hug,

"I want to save you Newt..."

She whispered against my ear,

"And I want you to be safe... just- let's safe Minho and then I'm sure Gallys boss can lend me some bliss..."

She hesitated, then nodded,

"Ok... ok fine."

She told me,

I pulled away and showed her my pinky,

"Pinky promise me that you will be happy? That we will get out together and we will live happily ever after?"

She looked at my pinky with a chuckle and linked her pinky with mine,

"I promise."

She said, I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her until our noses were touching,

"...Happily ever after sounds really good dont you think?"

She giggled giving me a lingering kiss,

It was a soft kiss, promising more to come,

"It sounds like a dream come true..."

I closed my eyes leaning my forehead against hers, just enjoying this last quiet moment.
