" I don't follow the drama Sam, it follows me.." Joana said while flipping her gorgeous brown curls with a wicked smile plastered on her face. Joana was beautiful and she had everything one could ever wish for, a rich family, a house in Beverly hills, a huge fan club and a perfect boyfriend. She always had some kind of drama to deal with.
"Aspen can you hear me?....Aspen?"
"Oh, I'm sorry Amber, you were saying?" I say apologetically.
"Look at Joana, she so fake. I mean what makes her think that people would actually get jealous of her for having drama to deal with."
This is Amber, my best friend. She has had my back since elementary school and she's always hated Joana. The truth is everybody dislikes Joana, but not because of her self centred attitude but because they envy her.
Amber was different, she didn't care how beautiful or rich Joana might be. She hated her and that was all.
It was probably because Amber herself had her own little fanclub and was like a Victoria Secret model but she just chose not to flaunt it.
If she made up her mind about hating someone no one can change it. We were similar that way.
I just want to stay away from drama as much as I could. Atleast a feet or two away. Its highschool! I'd rather make fun memories than care about a guy not texting me back and I'd rather go to wild ass party than care about my followers count. Life is too short for that. Cliche but true.
Even though I say all that, I am the type of person that would care about what other people say about me, I like to believe I don't but I can't keep fooling myself. My self-esteem can drop down pretty low sometimes, and sometimes it sky rockets.
I have my own highs and lows.
I didn't really have anything against Joana to be completely honest. Yes, she could get pretty mean but again, it's highschool, its all a race. If you don't pick up the speed you will be left behind. But because Amber meant a lot to me I nodded my head and said with a scorn on face "I know right"
We walked together till the cross and then took separate ways when we reached the intersection. I hastily waved at Amber and started walking towards my bicycle when I saw a red card kept in the basket waiting for me to open it. It was covered in glitter all over and looked as if it was out of a 90's movie...cliche right? I thought so too.
I opened the card, my forehead creased. It was an invitation to Joana's yearly last week of summer party. You could say that it was a back to school party. It was a very iconic okay if you ask me. I had seen students literally beg her to invite them. Talk about pride. Instagram usually blew up after the party, and the police always showed up. Without missing a single year. The party went on till 3am always and there was a LOT of alcohol. Her parties literally screamed "I have rich parents"
I found it odd though. Really odd. Joana never invited me to one of these parties because she knew I would turn them down and that would hurt her pride. "People fall on my feet for these invitations, how dare you?" She used to say. Amber obviously didn't get them cause the both of them hated each other. So why now? It didn't fit.
The question was..."Aspen?"
