He was used to this scene, yet all of a sudden, he could feel an unusual nagging feeling deep in his heart— telling him to protect the young man before he lost him for the second time.

The man's pitch black eyes hurriedly scanned the warzone, searching for the young man's figure. Part of him hoped that he won't find him, as that means the man didn't partake in his gruesome scene, yet a part of him hoped that he could find him just so that he could protect him in his arms.

The man suddenly caught a figure in the corner of his eyes. A figure in red brocade continuously swung the longsword against the enemy's troops, his body agilely danced as he avoided the enemy's sudden attack. His delicate and weak aura was replaced as the force surrounding his body turned violent with a layer of undisguised killing intent. The awe-inspiring aura made the young man looked extremely handsome and enchanting as his blade tore through the skies.

Relief washed over the man's body once he caught Qian Zhe's figure. He hurriedly paved a way amongst the battlefield, continuously swinging his blade as he approached the man he dearly loved.

But all of those thoughts instantly vanished the moment he noticed a woman watching from afar, his steps faltering. The woman stood tall on the small mountain, as she overlooked the battlefield with cold ruthless eyes. Wearing a black strange suit laced with a bold and arrogant red embroidery, she pulled out an abnormally unfamiliar weapon that he didn't know existed in this world.

Although unfamiliar, his gut told him that the weapon she was holding was a mass killing weapon able to take any life in a second with just a simple trigger.

He followed the woman's sight, his pupils shrunk as he saw the weapon was directed towards the love of his life.

Qian Zhe was busy fighting against the enemy's general, his attention was taken away as he protected himself from the incoming attacks. His back was on her like a chicken waiting to be killed.

The man immediately saw the impending situation, his feet ran towards the young man, intending to protect him yet why did he feel that he's so slow?

The two feet that he was so proud of, the two feet that he thought could catch any enemy in time, was extremely painfully slow this time.

The man watched the woman pull the trigger in slow motion, a bullet flew across the battlefield, its target was clear as it bore down on the young man.

"Qian Zhe... watch out!"

His shout was too late.

The young man instinctively turned around when his lover called out his name, witnessing the shock on the man's face before a bullet penetrated his heart.

Unable to protect his back as his attention was diverted, not a second later, a sword coming from the enemy's general slashed his back. Blood spurted out from his mouth.

Everything happened in a second, not giving the man to process what just happened as he watched his lover weakly fell back, his consciousness fading away.

The last scene that Qian Zhe saw was the terrified face of his lover, his hands reaching out to him but unable to catch his hand on time.

"No—!"

Li Mu woke up with a start. Beads of sweat rolled down from his forehead, his back was drenched as the clothing stuck to his skin.

"Haa..!"

The man panted as if he just ran a marathon. Closing his eyes, he could still vividly remember the painful dream— how the death of that young man could affect his life so much more than he thought.

"Fuck..."

Drowned in despair due to the death of a person in his dreams, the man didn't notice a presence near him watching in concern.

"Meow?"

The sudden sound woke Li Mu up from his stupor.

His eyes glanced towards where the sound came from, coming in contact with a familiar pair of blue eyes.

-

"Wei Yan." The young man pulled his hand. His eyes casted down as he hid the swirling emotions deep in his eyes.

"If— I say if," Qian Zhe paused before starting again, "If I don't make it till the end.."

"No, Zhe-er." The man's grip on his hand tightened, his jaw clenched as he gritted his teeth. "You will make it."

"I will make sure you will."

"Yeah, I know." Qian Zhe chuckled, his laugh rang like chiming bells. "I know that you will protect me. I'm just saying 'if'."

"If, worst come to worst," Qian Zhe calmly looked up to the man's penetrating eyes, his eyes full of pampering and love. "I want you to know that.."

"My name is—-"

The harsh wind suddenly blew through the area, sending several leaves to swirl around in the air, disabling the man from hearing the young man's voice.

"What? Can you say that again?"

The man raised his eyebrows, showing a confused look.

The young man just laughed at his lover's adorable look.

-

For a second, the young man's figure overlapped with the kitten's one.

That different pair of eyes seemingly gave that same comforting feeling as they looked up at him in concern.

"Zi Gang."

The man sitting on the bed smiled as his eyes met the charming pair of blue eyes.

"Your name is Zi Gang." He calmly stated.
