Be True To Yourself And To Love

Chapter 9: The time is now.

Can had been busy all day, drawing out his ideas for the perfect engagement ring
He didn't want to just go to the jewelry store and pick one out. He knew his Sanem was unique and special so her ring had to represent that. He knew that Sanem loved the story about his moonstones and how important they were to him so he wanted to use a moonstone. He had drawn at least 4 different designs but had ended up wadding up the paper to throw in the trash. He was frustrated when suddenly an idea came to fruition. After about 45 minutes he was ecstatic about what he had created. It was not overly extravagant but beautiful and perfect for his Sanem. He immediately went to his jeweler friend and asked him to create the ring. Can could not wait to place the ring on her finger. He knew that he needed to ask her parents for their blessing but didn't know how to go about it. He needed a plan, first to get Sanem out of the house so he could ask her parents and then he needed his proposal to go off without a hitch.
He realized almost immediately that Sanem was the one for him, that one kiss changed everything he ever thought he was. He was never the kind of man to want to spend time with a woman, he always had other things to do. He had to admit he was more of a " hit it and quit it" type. After meeting Sanem and falling hard for her he realized he had no desire to leave or travel unless she was going with him. Although they had not been more intimate than some passionate kisses and touches he knew he would never want to just have sex with her. He felt her in the deepest part of his heart and soul and he knew that she was IT for him forever. He knew that when their time came to be intimate that it would be beautiful and more passionate and perfect than even Sanem's written words could describe. He admitted he would be ready whenever she was but felt innately proud and honored that he was to be her first and that it would likely be their wedding night. All these thought plus more ran through his mind all while he was planning his proposal.
Sanem was busy with campaigns at the agency so Can took this time to sneak away and go to Sanem's parents house. He told Nihat and Mevkibe that he loved Sanem, that she made him want to stay put and be the best man he could be. He told them that Sanem makes him feel whole and he wants to spend his life with her. He asked Nihat and Mevkibe if they would give him their permission to ask Sanem to marry him. Nihat was teary eyed but quiet and Mevkibe cried and grabbed Can in a tight bear hug and told him " of course you have our permission, we see the love you have for our baby and we couldn't he happier". Nihat finally smiled and nodded his head in agreement and took Can's hand to pull him into a hug.

** Proposal time**
Can had been quiet all day and Sanem wasn't sure what could be going on, was he stressed from work, they were really busy or was it something else. She couldn't help but wonder. She asked Can if he was okay and he smiled at her and told her he was "fine". Sanem smiled back and returned to her tasks. After a long, exhausting day Can asked Sanem to come with him. She readily and happily agreed because she wanted to talk with him to see what was on his mind. Can drove them to the beach because they both loved the ocean. Sanem thought that this would be a great place to talk. They arrived and Sanem didn't know what to think she could not believe her eyes. In front of her was the most beautiful lighted path, with lanterns and beautiful, fragrant flowers that lead to some billowy white curtains that partially hid what she could see only as a table with candles. She covered her mouth in utter amazement. Can reached for her hand, kissed her knuckles and led her down the path. He pulled the curtains back and she saw a beautifully decorated table with food and a bottle of wine. Their were more flowers everywhere she looked, seashells, starfish and more lanterns and candles all over. Sanem had tears in her eyes and looked to Can and said "what is all this? I thought something was wrong, is this what's been on your mind, what's going on?" Can chuckled and said "one question at a time baby and let's sit down and have dinner". Sanem as usual said she was "so hungry". Can pulled her chair out for her and gave her a passion filled kiss before sitting down himself. He smiled at Sanem, poured each of them a glass of wine and gave a toast to "our happy life". Can said as an answer to your many questions " this is a celebration of my enduring love for you, yes planning this and keeping it a secret has been on my mind since you can read me so easily,nothing is wrong baby I am just happy to love and be loved by you. I wanted to do something special and hopefully unforgettable (it will be with your photographic mind) to show the woman that I love how much she means to me. Sanem had not stopped crying by this time and definitely could not eat. Can got up from his chair, approached Sanem on bended knee while holding both of her hands. He said " Sanem, meeting you in the dark was like a light being shown so bright in my life, I could see for the first time in my life that there was something/ someone made for me. Getting to know you and loving you has been and continues to be my most grand adventure. You excited me in ways I have never known, you make me feel like I can do anything and I would give my life to protect you. You make me want to be the best version of myself each and everyday. I wake up each morning with a smile just to know I am going to get to see your beautiful, smiling face and smell my favorite scent in the entire world. I want to spend all my days and especially my nights with you, I want to see your beautiful brown eyes look at me before I go to sleep and those same eyes greet me when I awake. I want to build a home and life with you for our future babies
I want to love you forever and grow old with you as we watch our children grow
I want our love story to inspire others and be written about for years to come. Sanem, my heart. My soul. My life. My one and only love, will you make me the happiest man in the universe and be my wife?" Sanem could hardly speak due to her overwhelming emotions at his beautiful love declaration, so she smiled her radiant smile meant just for Can and nodded her head "YES"!
