It hadn't been long since you left Naboo, about a week or two after Padmé's funeral you had met up with Master Yoda and would decide the fate of the twins. In the end, Luke and Leia would have to be separated, it was the only way to keep them safe from Darth Vader. Yoda had decided that Leia would go to Alderaan with the Organa's, and Luke would go to Anakin's home planet of Tatooine. Obi-Wan was the one who suggested Tatooine, the idea surprising you and yet grief poked at your heart when he suggested the destination. He had offered to escort Leia and the Organa's back to Alderaan, but they had declined and sent you both on your way to Tatooine with a bundled up Luke Skywalker in your arms. So here you both were, Obi-Wan entering the co-ordinates of his old padawan's home planet and you sitting in the co pilot seat, Luke safely sleeping in your arms. He prepared to make the jump into hyper space, hand hovering over the switch as he approached the jump point. Luke slept as if he didn't have a care in the world, which he didn't. He just snuggled into the warm cloth and your motherly embrace as he dozed away, the precious little thing.

As Obi-Wan made the jump and the stars blurred past the cockpit window in an almost nauseous to look at way, you sunk deeper into the chair as you got as comfortable as possible. "It might be best not to get so close to the child, Y/N." Obi-Wan's voice was low as he spoke under his breath, arm propped on the armrest of the pilot chair while he didn't make eye contact. "What do you mean?" You had asked, eyebrows furrowing as you stared at him with clouded eyes. "We are heading to Tatooine to drop Luke off and watch over him from afar, after we leave him we cannot see him again." He continued, finally finding the courage within himself to look up and catch your gaze as you stared at him, dumbfounded. "I just feel a connection to him, that's all. He's... he's the only thing I have left of Padmé and Anakin." You shrugged, saying Anakin's name wasn't something you did often. You had spoken his name maybe once or twice since his turn to the dark side, and Obi-Wan hadn't said his name at all. Obi-Wan sighed and his hand raised to pinch the bridge of his nose, stressed out beyond belief and just wanting to drop Luke off so he could lay down and rest for once.

You could feel his frustration, his anger with himself, his overwhelming guilt that seemed to consume his heart. "It's for the best, Y/N." He had simply said, you had thought that was the end of the conversation but he had spoke up again after he did a quick once over of your face. "You look tired, go lay down. It'll be a while yet before we reach Tatooine." He offered, coincidentally yawning and scolding yourself after for proving he was right. The edges of his mouth curved up into a sideways smile, his overgrown beard muffling the action but no less succeeding in making your stomach do flips. You made sure you had a good grip on Luke before you sighed and stood up, a hand coming to rest on Obi-Wan's shoulder for a moment before making your way out of the cockpit. You moved through the halls silently as to not wake Luke, quickly reaching your room and finding a bassinet inside, how convenient. You placed Luke in the bassinet and made sure he was covered up good and warm, the ship was rather cold after all, before turning and unclipping your cloak to throw it over the back of a chair. You toed off your boots and abandoned them on the floor behind you, not bothering to move them since you were so tired. You pulled back the covers and got comfortable, almost as soon as your head hit the pillow you had fallen asleep.
