the one where he gets home and just wants to sleep

it had been a very long day for you. you were so busy with keeping up with work and checking in on family that you almost forgot to say hi to niall when he got home. you were already in bed, ready to go to sleep but you didn't like falling asleep without niall close to you, and since you got the day off tomorrow you decided to stay up and wait for him.

"hi bub" you said and he gave you a small smile. you could see he was tired. he had been working 12 hour days the past few weeks and he didn't get to sleep much. sure, making this second album was his favorite thing to do besides you, but you were a bit worried it would take a toll on his health. besides that, you missed him like crazy, and you missed cuddling up to your boyfriend. he always got home, talk to you for a bit, then you'd fall asleep and when you woke up he was gone again.

niall undressed himself to his boxers and got into bed next to you. "hi baby" he said and pulled you close to him. your heart fluttered at the gesture and he put a kiss on your cheek. "why are you still up? don't you have work tomorrow?" he asked you and put his head on your chest. "i got the day of tomorrow 'cause i thought it would be nice to sleep in for once. i know you have the day of tomorrow as well and i just want to be with you" you said softly. your fingers were stroking his hair and you kissed his forehead. he was so tired that his eyes were already closed and you could hear his soft breathing.

"so that means we have three days off together at the same time, right? i don't have a studio booked for the weekend" you smiled and held him a little tighter. "yes. three days. just the two of us bub" he opened his eyes and looked up at you. you placed a kiss on his lips and he looked so tired but so happy and cute when you did that. he put his face in the crook of your neck and placed two kisses on your skin before he spoke. "'m sorry i haven't been home much, pet. 'm sorry we haven't been spending time much, as if we don't live a life together. i'm gonna make it up to you, i promise" he said and you rubbed his back. "you don't have to apologize. i know how much you love being in the studio and making new songs, jus' want you to be happy and healthy" you felt his lips against your skin again and you giggled.

"mhm, i really want to talk to you and kiss you, but i don't think i would do you justice by falling asleep during all that" his voice was getting softer by the second. "how about we go to sleep and talk tomorrow, huh? you need to catch up on some sleep" he laughs softly and hums. "you're so good to me, pet" you readjusted the sheets and kissed him again. "goodnight niall, i love you" "love you"
