''I don't know If I want to. I only asked you to see if you were going, to be honest. She always invites the guys on the football team. You know, the weird ones.''

''I better not go. The guys she's talking to is probably gonna be there. He'd beat my ass or something.'' I admitted. Ayran scoffed at my words, pushing himself down a seat on the bleachers and sitting next to me. He met eyes with me, throwing a playful punch at my shoulder.

''You already know we would have your back, stupid. If you want to go we can go, alright? No lil' white football players are going to mess with you. And there is no damn way Harper would let him.''

I wouldn't be surpised if she sent him after me, but I probably shouldn't say that. I really did fuck her over.

''I'll ask my parents if I can go.'' I said to them.

-------------------------------------------

''No, you can't go to the party.''

''Aw, come on dad! I haven't done anything fun in like... a year! You've wanted me to go out and do things, how come I can't go to Harper's party?''

He turned towards me, his blue eyes narrowed in my direction. I couldn't help but look down from his gaze, bringing a hand to the back of my neck nervously. He's scary sometimes...

''You said you'd go over your cousins for dinner tonight, and I don't think me or your papa would be comfortable with you going to a highschool party. There is drinking, there is drugs, alcohol, all of that bad stuff!''

''I'm 18, dad! How do you expect me to grow and learn to be an adult if you're going to coop me up in the house all the time? I'm not going to learn any important life lessons if I'm going to just-''

''Daddy, when are we going over uncle Matthew 's house?'' Julia asked, running into the kitchen with a big smile on her face. Her curls bounced with every movement as she ran up to dad, his eyes lighting up at the sight.

''Go in the living room for a second, sweetheart. James and I are talking.'' He told her. She nodded her head, running out of the kitchen without another word. He motioned towards her before speaking with his paler hands.

''Why can't you be like her? She's excited to go.''

''I'm not six years old. I'm an adult.''

He let out a deep sigh at my words, shaking his head as he pulled his eyes away from me.

''Ask your papa and see where that will take you. Julia and I will be in the car.'' He suddenly said. My eyes widened at his words as I watched him call for Julia, picking up his car keys and walking over to the front door. Julia followed behind him with a big smile on his face, motioning for me to follow her with her smaller hand.

I'll ask the triplets to go with me. We can sneak out easily if we wanted to... they ignore us at these dinner parties anyways. I'm sure aunt Faith dragged Amber to it too.

I got in the car willingly to my dad's surprise. My papa was already at the house, so there was no point in trying to simply ask to go. He would definitely not let me go to the party...he never does. His argument is always that highschool parties result in cops, and cops are bad. He's not wrong about that, but how does he know cops will show up? Can't he just let me have risks sometimes in life? How am I going to manage on my own?

Tonight will be fun. I'm sure of it.

As soon as I walked in, I was instantly met with the eyes of the triplets and Amber. They motioned for me to follow them into the kitchen as my dad and sister greeted the rest of the family. I waved casually at my aunts and uncles before slowly slipping away into the kitchen, my eyes narrowing at the four of them.

''You guys wanna go to Harper's party?'' I asked them. They immediately nodded their heads, Malachi shrugging his shoulders with a faint blush lingering on his cheeks. Asher couldn't help but let out a sigh as he slapped his shoulder, earning a whine from his brother.

''You know how I feel about sneaking out! I don't want mom to get mad at us! You know how she is when she's mad... She'll rip out my hair and make a sweater out of it!''

''You need to stop worrying so damn much. If anything, my ass will be handed to me and blamed for all of this by my mom.'' Amber mumbled. We all slowly began to nod in agreement, avoiding her gaze as we all fell silent.

''Did any of you even get invited? I didn't.'' I admitted. The triplets shook their heads no while Amber nodded, walking over to the kitchen counter and grabbing her purse. We followed behind her, watching as she pressed a finger to her lips before reaching down and taking off the heels she wore. She held them in her free hand to cause less noise.

My heart was beating a mile a minute as we inched closer to the bathroom, the five of us piling into the bathroom and gently closing the door behind us. We all let out a sigh of relief as we went around and gave each other high fives to congratulate us from walking past our family...

But now we had to jump out the window and somehow not get in the cameras way.

''Alright. Imma go first since I'm gonna take less time.'' Amber mumbled, picking up a chair and pressing it against the wall so we can reach the taller window. The four of us watched as she unlocked the window, slowly pushing the window sill up and letting out a deep sigh.

She started off by throwing her heels out the window, along with her purse. She slung her one leg over the window, closing her eyes in anticipation of the small jump she had to make to get down. She pushed her other leg over the side, sliding off of the window and letting out a squeal of fear.

''Shut your ass up! You're gonna get us caught!'' I whispered/yelled. I watched as she pulled herself up, her dark brown eyes growing angry with my words.

''Shut the fuck up and get out here! The cameras almost caught me!''

The triplets piled out the window with no problem, leaving just me to jump out. They quietly cheered me on as I stood upon the chair, slinging my chair over the window and gazing out at my cousins- especially Malachi. He looked like he was going to piss himself.

I finally pushed myself out the window, the anxiety that was building up in my chest disappearing as my feet met the ground.
