A creepypasta

I'll start by saying that I'm no biologist or even particularly experienced when it comes to nature and things like that. But I just know that what is happening back there needs to go as soon as possible.

I'm currently living in a big house in rural Russia. The nearest town is roughly an hour-long drive away and if you leave out the village another 10 minutes in the other direction I have about 3 neighbors. The house is big. especially since I'm the only one living inside. I inherited it when my uncle died last year and when I graduated college I moved here with my dog Igor. After I graduated I took a job in graphic design in a fairly successful company. the good side of it is that it lets me work from home and I don't have to take a train to town every single day. That leaves me plenty of times to explore, take Igor for walks or just lay back and relax. I've come to adapt to this lifestyle. There isn't much to do but we all get along just fine. Occasionally the old lady Elena that lives next door would invite me over to have some tea or coffee. She too lives alone, though her house is tiny. There is one other house on this vast part of the land but I'm not quite sure who or even if anyone lives in it. I usually just don't boggle my mind with it. I'm not going to lie I quite this peaceful lifestyle. There isn't any noise around apart from the train that drives past two times every day.  At night it gets even calmer and there can be numerous different animals sound heard, coming from the woods. It creeps me out from time to time but after a few months, I got used to it. As I said before, I quite like it here and nothing weird had happened for a while. Till last month that is.

It was just a regular day. Tuesday to be exact. I got up late. Around 8 am. The morning was calm and a bit chillier than usual. I made coffee and got to work immediately. We had been working on this huge project lately and all needed to work extra hours to meet the needs of the company. I worked the day away and if it weren't for Igor's loud barking I would have probably worked for 12 hours straight. The dog's noises made me shake my head and wake up from my working trance. The clock has gone way past 4 pm at that point and I remembered that I haven't even fed Igor let alone taking him for a walk. I quickly closed my project and emailed my boss about the progress. Apologizing to the dog I quickly emptied a big can of food into his bowl and heated a hot meat soup for myself. It wasn't much but lately, I didn't have much time to go to the story. Elena brought me fresh eggs and milk from the village every other day. I am forever grateful for that. She walks for nearly an hour every day to the village and back in this cold. she's one of the nicest people I've ever met. Her cat Zmey, on the other hand, isn't as nice. But still, a bit of company in this lonely place can't hurt anyone. I ate my soup while scrolling through my social media to check up on my college friends. I haven't seen them in forever. After finishing up I let the dishes in the sink and grabbed the leash. Igor jumped as if his legs were for springs pushing him toward the ceiling. Huskies have a lot of energy so I couldn't just tell him off without at least a short walk. From the old closet in the basement, I took an old Jacket my mom used to wear when she still lived here. It's a heavy green jacket filled with wool for extra warmth. It can get pretty cold around here so it always comes in handy. Igor almost makes me fall in his excitement while I put my brown boots on. Catching a glance of myself in the mirror I noticed I had forgotten to take my cap with me. my blonde hair got covered with the thick grey wool that only enhanced my bright blue eyes. I look like what you'd expect from a typical Russian. Anyway, I opened the door and Igor bolted outside. I always take the leash with me on walks but rarely use it. I mean there are no cars in the area so what could happen to him. I carefully locked the door behind me and looked around. At the back of the house, there is nothing but a huge forest stretching hundreds of miles in all directions. Igor was running around, bringing me sticks and biting the grass playfully. I took the same trail as the day before. It is barely visible but still there. It is said to have been used by soldiers in the second world war for different immoral, morbid operations. We all know that the Russians like to experiment with nuclear power and other sorts of weird things. The trail led me towards a small river flowing through the forest. It was about 6 pm at that time and slowly getting dark. I had decided to continue for a couple more minutes before turning back and making my way back to the warmth of my house. It was particularly cold that day so I didn't feel like staying out for too long. I stopped by the Big old oak tree about fifteen minutes of walking into the dense forest and stood still for a while. But when I called for Igor, I couldn't hear him anywhere. I figured he was sniffing at some old bark or something so I called again. There was nothing. The silence now felt even quieter and I could hear my heart beginning to pound. I looked in every direction and called again. Louder this time. My voice echoed among the still giants and came back in my direction. For a moment, I felt lost and began to panic. Just then, I heard a faint growl and a whimper in the distance. I shouted for Igor and ran in the direction from where the sounds were coming from. I noticed a white patch among the browns and greens all around. For a moment I wanted to lecture my dog about running off in the forest but then...I noticed it. It seemed to me like an opening in the ground. Only that it was so black I could barely make it out. The opening was big enough for a human to squeeze through and was just resting on the side of the hill. The inside was completely black and the black seemed to spread out from it like some kind of veins. And they were pretty long as well. As I mentioned, I'm no biologist but to me, it seemed just plain. wrong? I stood there for a moment, trying to explain the...thing spreading before me. That's when I noticed something even weirder. The forest was different around the opening. There were plants that I had never seen before, weird, twisted. Flowers with sharp teeth-like petals, trees with their branches twisted in horrid shapes. They looked sick and maybe...mutated. I stared at the weird surroundings for a few seconds longer before realizing how dark it had gotten. The forest was almost completely dark and this point so I put Igor on a leash, turned on the flashlight on my phone and quickly started making my way back to the house. The last thing I wanted to do was getting stuck in this damned forest at night without any way to contact anyone. The phone signal went completely dead after entering the woods. When I and Igor got back it was pitch black outside. I nearly shut the door behind me and locked it twice. The experience back in the forest got me unnerved. I decided that it was best to sleep it off so I washed Igor's paws and after taking a shot of rakia for my nerves went straight to bed.
